My buddy has an korg electribe drum machine but he is looking to get a good analog sequencer. Nothing too expensive or nothing too crazy, just a good sounding, analog sequencer. He is looking into the JoMox Xbase 09. Any thoughts/experiences/comments/jokes highly appreciated!!! Ill share the info with him but I wouldn't mind learning a thing or two. Thank you!

I think there is some confusion on the terms here... A Sequencer just plays back notes and timing info which you then feed into something that makes noise like a Synth or a Drum Machine... The Jomox is an Excellent Analog Drum Machine with great sounds... Check out a Future Retro Orb if you just want a Sequencer... Ask more questions if you want...

He has an arp solus for his synth needs. Maybe he is looking for a different drum machine. I shall ask him more questions about it.

Hahahaha... I'm old and I read every issue of Future Music for about 7 years... Now I've read most of the Tape Op's and the books they made... Let us know what your friend decides on...

+1 on an orb or a mobius for a sequencer, my favorites. xbase09s are nice drum machines if it turns out that's what he's after.

make noise rene'

the only drag is that it's 1x16. however, it's deeply programmable, insofar as logic and interactivity are concerned. search the james cigler videos on viemo for what i mean.

Ok so I talked to my buddy and clarified somethings he wants to sell his drum machine the korg, for another drum machine and to also buy a sequencer. It's funny you mention the synthrotek 16 step because we were just looking at the kit and were considering taking the endeveaor of building it. He is also open to other sequencer kits other than the synthrotek.

It depends. Step sequencer or other. Midi or CV.
Korg Electribes are pretty good and easy for cheap to sequence other stuff through Midi.

electribes are probably the most bang for your buck regarding MIDI seq's.
