Effects were in their infancy. Did you indulge?

i think it's mostly slide and whatever amp he is using.

Hmmm, well it sounds really chorussy, or vibish, and theres some delay in there a time or two.

there's a poop-ton of reverb, probably an LA studio echo-chamber; there may be some amplifier tremolo, but i don't think so. i think the tremolo is an illusion caused by the multiple tremolo/vibratos on the keyboards and/or an overdubbed 12-string (Krieger used a 12-string ES-335, which can be heard e.g. on the "Love Her Madly" rhythm guitar parts). he's also got the amplifier or console EQ tweaked in a very peculiar way.
