Imitating cello

I was pursuing cello imitation with bass guitar for some time now and I want to share my best try:

That's Copilot Android going into room reverb from Line6 M5. 100% wet reverb kills the attack of the bass signal and I like the result with M5 the most out of my reverbs (although RRR very cool too, but I like to have decay control; Blue Sky didn't work that well). Android set for "dying overdrive" setting and adds harmonic content. Also I'm playing on neck pick-up with highs rolled out on the bass pre-amp.

Now I really need to go through that "Bach for bass" book :)

That's really cool, I was able to cop some cello with the EHX Microsynth... Do you have an Ebow or even a vol pedal??? My neighbor plays cello so I get to hear it all the time and really like the range and tone of a cellos... Keep it up... :thumb:

No kidding. I was expecting some very fake cello sound. That was pretty spot on.

That was pretty good, Shish.

Apparently, this may work too:

nice! I've used a slow gear in the past for a bowed strings sound. thats really finicky though and everything has to be just right. that was great!

That's great man!
Some other options that I use to create a cello like sound are: Pigtronix Philosopher King or Electro Harmonix Superego on faster swell settings.

Wow, the guy in your avatar really looks like Alf! :thumb:

I want a Maestro now. Goddamn you, Chank.

Also, that shit in the OP sure sounds exactly like a cello. Well done, for real.

Thank you all, guys. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm thinking of recording some more stuff for this thread.
