Processed and sterile sounding and someone should really take the microphone away from that singer *shrug*

So that would be a "no" from you, then?

I hate to cast stones, but... Bands like that kinda fit into my "wow they can really play but it doesn't sound good" category. I got over music as a competitive sport when thrash metal died out.

love them
LOVE
i've been listening since forever, own both albums, have a poster signed (twice), talked with them, took a photo with them
AWESOME chilled guys, great musicians. and the vocals have got way better since the first album

and about the "sterile sound" - it's a high-gain with a ton of mids and very little bass... since many people see even Tool as sterile sounding, i'm not surprised, not everyone enjoys these sounds

Can't stand this djent crap. Same thing every song: a handful of halfway decent Meshuggah knock-offs, with nothing else at all that I like. Not sure which I like less, these guys or Tesseract.
/grumpy metal rant

HATE their singer. He is really out of place in my opinion. They took their pretty decent old songs that Bulb wrote and made them worse over time. It's like they're slowing unlearning. They're all talented and put on a good show though.

I wouldn't mind Periphery if they were just an instrumental band, but the vocals kill it for me
Animals as Leaders on the other hand - that is some proper good 'djent' or whatever they call it
There are similar bands that aren't as popular that aren't too bad as well, Hand of Taurus comes to mind.
