Cobalts might help. Where is the string breaking? Up top or down near the bridge?

You need to lube that sucker up! (TWHS)
srsly put some graphite on the saddle and in the groove on the nut.

first time it broke
was at the bridge
right in the slot
last night it broke at the nut
i should be able to go nuts right
it was a brand new string
i never got it properly set up
for fatter strings
should i do a little file action
before i restring it too
definately will graph it up though

Yeah, just slot it a tiny bit for the .12 and graphite everything and you should be good to go!

switched out to the cobalts
did a litte fileage with a snippet of string
and put some graphit on both nut and bridge
there definately was some sharp snaggles on both
the cobalts feel really nice
i havent plugged in yet
so cant say muchbabout the sound yet
guess this can turn into a ernie ball cobalt review thread

Cobalts are awesome, and I usually avoid rounds. They and Circle K strings are the best rounds, hands down, fuckin' rhyme time.
srsly though they're the shit when paired with mudbuckers. I'd even use em in place of Circle K if you could get the same customization options with them.

Just bought some cobalt .12's for the Obstructures. Gotta wait on these new saddles to get here before I can string it up with them though

well im lovin the cobalts
the bright stuff totally comes through
and the lows have a bit more punch
problem is i broke another string
this time 2nd from bottom
um i think
i tune d standard DGCFAD
broke the g string at the bridge
it was the d string previoulsly
i dont think i filed the bridge on that one
if i did
obviously not enough
i think its time for a new bridge
also think im gonna replace the nut
i was gonna go find existing threads
but since ive explained my setup here
and i started it ill go ahead
mim thinkin roller bridge
any issues with muting?
what kinda glue is used for a new nut?
i got a samick greg bennett tr2(sg clone)

After a few random switches back and forth between RPS EBs and the Cobalts, i decided that Cobalts are hardly worth it
a) they feel weird to me
b) they seem to lose the sound pretty quickly
the biggest problem tho
c) not reinforced ball ends. I tend to suffer a lot from the ball unwrapping, so... deal-breaker
with that said
not able to justify that they're twice as expensive than the RPSs

my issues have decrased with the roller bridge
but i had my bottom break on thursday
i have so many spares but no bottom....fart
swapped out with the e on a shitty guit at the space
i realized that bottom was smaller guage than my 5th
so i had to put on another 5th and it was floppy as hell
anyway it got me through practice
im thinking of raising the stoptail a bit to cut the angle
anyway didnt wanna buy another full set of cobalts
i got a few with just the .56s missing
so i ordered 3 55g from cirkle k
why is 56 the only ones they dont have

Just realized they have Cobalt bass strings. Might have to try those out, but I haven't had straight up rounds in a long time. I've been digging my half wounds.

I use DR Tite Fits (11-50) on all my guitars and they rule! No breakage and they sound and feel new/fresh longer than any string I've tried by a longshot! I've found that it only takes the smallest burr to destroy even the most resilient strings so always resolve those issue. Then I throw some Nut Sauce on the nut, saddles, and and string trees (basically Vaseline mixed with graphite powder) and all is well.

Oh, also use a customized set of La Bella nickel plated rounds for my Bass VI . Fantastic strings at crazy affordable prices considering the custom options and super fast lead time.
