Delay -> dirty amps

Tape, analog, digital? What's your take on a good delay pedal to hit in front of the dirty amps? To avoid that rumbling echo sound, I've always put them behind clean setting of an amp & after dirt pedals.. even with a little breakup could sound messy when the delay hits it with particular delay pedals. My guess is the darker the delay is, the more fucked up my sound is gonna be.. and not in a good way (or maybe it's just not my thing?). Here I am trying to appreciate my new amp more on a dirt department, but without having no loop this is gonna be a challenge.

I'd generally avoid digital

both tape and analog could sound good

look into earthquaker devices disaster transport or the jr
both have a tone control which helps a bit.

If delay into a dirty amp is close to delay into monarch than the sub decay echobox is doing awesome things,
my time bender throws too much at dirt to sound really great in front but the echobox is awesome
I have also put my memory boy into a cranked AC4 and that went great so I think analog or anAlog souNding works best to my ears

Whenever I run delay into a dirty amp, I always throw it in the fx loop, because the dirt seems to spill all over between the repeats and it just becomes a smeared mess. That's why I made sure I got an amp that has an fx loop and a line/instr level switch for the loop. All of my delay, modulation and reverb goes in the loop.

I run my disaster transport before fuzz and it sounds great. Light fuzz, heavy fuzz, ridiculous fuzz. I haven't used the dirty channel on my amp in months though.

Yeah, I had to throw the digital in just becos.. but never liked them pristine echo anyway. Funny you mentioned echobox, I've been interested to Anamnesis for quite sometimes now, but hoping that they release a DLX version of it this year. Shoot I've tried so many delay pedals in the past (maybe not the TTE, Roland tape or the echozar), and all comes in full circle for me and I'm planning to get the Line 6 Echo Park instead for the versatility (never tried them), heard lots of happy users on the pedal. Sounded really good on the youtube so far for what it's worth for. What do you think?

Yeah I agree, too bad I got no choice for a loop at the moment, just gotta hit it hard in front of it without making a mess. When I was in the market for new amp, I tend to get amps with fx loop & 2 channels, but it just killed the chance of getting broader selection, so I compromised in that options and get what I really want. Now I'm paying for it lol

I dig line 6 delays. they sound great on my DL4 and M9.

Funny cos I swore myself not to get another line 6 after my DL4 dead on its young age. I'll be getting it from Sweetwater to get their 2 year warranty and sell it right before it if I need to.

While ppl getting problems with those switches, mine was just dead. And their customer service was hopeless.

I run my disaster transport into fuzz as well and it sounds great. I guess it'd be the same with a dirty amp, I'll go try that out now.

Thanks man! So I assume that tone knob helps a lot.. what's the position just for reference of its brightness?

Right now I've got my Traynor set up to be not so dirty, but on the boost channel of the amp which always has a bit of dirt to it. Hit it with a dark tape delay from my time factor. Shit sounds unreal. DARK delay
