 Way to take care of business...

Double sided tape 'round the bottom.

i used foam... it wrapped the base nicely and it is able of being squeezed a lot, but it helps to stay in place awesomely :) helped me a lot... and i only needed a bit

i'd also be interested in a longer arm

Are you sure it is pushed in all the way? It takes considerable force to remove the arm from my VM Jazzy, and it took a ton of force to insert it. I could probably lift the guitar by it.

If the trem arm is inserted properly, the beginning of the bend of the arm should start just outside the collar on the tremolo.

This.

You basically have to be on the verge of breaking the thing when pushing it in.

A trick done on my MIJ: buy a compression gasket and nut with a washer the size of the end of the arm. Screw the nut around the inside end of the trem plate (female end of the arm) and put a washer inside the gasket. Screw the gasket on to compress the wash around the arm to your preferred tightness. The gasket will keep that tightness around the arm and the rubber washer will smoothly allow you to pull it in and out.

Which one fits is the $1000 question, if any.

My MIJ Mustang trem arm fits the Squier. But the Mascis JM doesn't fit in the Squier Jag. So the mystery of the ages is whether the MIJ ones fit the Squiers.

I'd probably contact Fender's customer service directly and ask.

(And as far as a longer one, no idea, the stock one is plenty long for me)

Glad to see you got the arm figured out though.

I should add that after six months of pretty hefty abuse, my VM Jag's arm is still in but good with no signs of loosening.

Yeah, how would you hold a longer one? I'm playing at the base of the neck as it is. :p
