Earthquaker Monarch!

Hello. I'm new to this forum and I though I could ask you guys a question about the E.Q. monarch. I absolutely love this pedal but I'd like to give it a little "push" over the edge. Does anyone know of a good pedal to boost it with, I'm currently boosting it with a BBE Boosta Grande and it OK but I'd still like a little more ump. I play stone rock/ rock & roll and I'm using a Carvin VL-100 halfstack on the clean channel (Figured I'd just let ya Know the set up) Thanks!

Since you are a fan of EQD, how about the Speaker Cranker? Also, have you tried running the Monarch at 18 volts instead of 9?

Yes the pedal is running 18v. I might just be use to a full distortion but I'd like just a little bit more ;)

I think either a simple boost like a micro amp
Or another overdrive with a flexible EQ

Examples of a overdrive with a flexible EQ?

EQD Talons overdrive has a three band eq and I think a presence knob too.

You may be in dire need of a fuzzbox and use the monarch to shape and add more umph to the fuzz.

@ 18v you're getting more headroom, which is the opposite of what you want. try running it at 9v instead for more gain.

I run my monarch at 9v currently and push it with a black out mantra and a DBA fuzz war

The fuzz gives it a massive amount of grind and the monarch gives the Fuzz war back some definition

with the mantra and monarch you get massive levels of heavy

if you want a straight boost I would go more with a treble style
I use an MI audio boost and buff which gets in to treble booster range at some point

we have a thread for monarch stackers as well

Hbomb speaks the truth. A linear boost may make the monarch fart out. Treble boost will keep it tight. Mid boost can also sound good.

I push my gainy pedals with a maxed out compressor. :poke:
i dont care about dynamics or squish when im wanting to go all out

Awesome guys, thanks for the suggestions! As far as Fuzz I'm not a huge fan, I think the Monarch provides enough for me ;) I will try running the Monarch at 9v to see if it makes a difference, if not I'll look into some overdrive w/ flexible EQ or a Treble boost. Thanks again!
