Correct. Ground is ground, but...

I don't wire mine up quite like that example. Take the LED. The ground wire comes off the switch, and connects to the PCB's ground. So, when you engage the pedal, the LED pulls current to light up. That current can cause a change in voltage in the ground wire. The LED's ground wire is shared with the audio's ground wire, and that can cause popping. I like to keep the LED as separate as possible from the audio, so that means running a dedicated wire for the LED's 9V and Ground straight off of the DC jack.

I usually connect all the audio grounds to the output jack sleeve. Board ground -> Output jack sleeve. Input jack sleeve -> Output jack sleeve. Output jack sleeve -> DC Jack.

I share ground with the bypass grounded effect input on the footswitch and the LED but that is really the only other thing sharing a ground wire with the LED for the reason's already mentioned. I think the footswitch is break before make (can someone confirm this?) so it does not even engage when the jacks or board input are physically connected to the same ground wire that the LED uses at the same time. I like to star ground things to the PCB as much as possible. by having the power entry go directly to PCB only, it is the same result as if everything in the pedal is star grounded on a dedicated wire to the power entry. no one wants 6 ground wires on the power entry so I think star grounding to the PCB is best.
