Pedalsnake - Anybody Use This System

I was looking at pedalboard stuff and came across: http://www.pedalsnake.com. Anybody use any of their system? Looks like a way to keep things nice and tidy and it's very modular. Basically it consolidates cables (power, midi, audio, etc.) for less mess and easier setup time. Not sure how much it would benefit somebody like me, who is mostly a bedroom player, but for playing live it'd be great.

lol. SILENCE.

never used them, but the picture on the first page of their site of a "typical setup" is kinda hillarious. who does that?

um. looks kinda silly? like, the power stuff isn't going to be isolated. so with a bit of planning and work you could have just as tidy a board with normal cables and a good isolated power supply. i only have one power cord coming out of my PT Pro, one audio in, one audio out. and that's with 3 multis and about 13 single boxes.

kinda meh to me?

I'd not heard of it before, but it's certainly intriguing.
It does seem like it could get a bit expensive, plus I'm not sure if it'd power things like a Whammy etc.

That's one of the things I was concerned about also is pedals with different supply. The site says you need a different power cord for each power you're running (one for 9v, 18v). It does look like it could get expensive.

I don't think anybody has their cables as messy and sprawled out as that picture on the homepage. They're exaggerating just a bit, lol.

A concern of mine was how to run a stereo setup. So yeah, I think I'll pass. I need to bite the bullet though and find a way to power my seventeen pedals more effectively. Four wall warts and a one spot is a bit ridiculous!

they're not cheap, but Cioks is so damn GOOD. i use a Pussy Power on my small board and a Ciokolate on my main board. both just workhorses with loads of powery options.

hell. the Ciokolate powers an M9, TimeLine, Mobius then like 13 single boxes. and 2 or 3 of those are weird DC requirements, one is AC.

LOVE that thing.

Mine get pretty bad under my Pedal Train. But I honestly change my shit out so much that there is no use in me taking the time to secure it down with zipties and the whole shebang, it's just gonna change in a few days anyways.

But honestly you can buy about 1000 zip ties for like $5 and they do the same thing...

duct tape those cables together... i did it for a few tours where i needed 4 cables to my amp and put a little piece of colored tape on the end of each to know what was what. it saved me like 1 or 2 minutes? conclusion = unnecessary

on the off chance that one of the cables in the snake goes bad, then what?

This is one of those things that does kinda strike me as more for the "I use only Boss pedals" type guys and that it wouldn't help my board at all...with multiple voltii and stuff. But I support this product in the hopes that it will evolve into something I could use in the future.

i got 4 wallwarts
including the onespot
duct taped to a strip
i taped the wires together
so instead of a medusa
its more of a power dread
red tape on the 18v!
but now i dont use the 18
so red means dont use
indstead of tryin to cut it out of the mess

It's impressive as hell, but at $400, it better be.

There are certainly some rigs that could benefit from a pedalsnake type setup. Like a midi controlled rack rig, with some pedals on the floor, and maybe some expression pedals. Of course many of the people that are patient enough and dedicated enough to put together a complicated rig requiring lots of cabling would probably have no problems creating their own pedal snake type cable. Or they are pros paying someone to put together their rig and THAT person would build a cable for them. So it seems the biggest issue would be a fairly small target market. Then again, they have been around for a little while, so somebody must be buying their product.
