I have been trying to repair my GZ fuzz (devi suggested that I replace all the yellow caps because they were bad and they didn't know until the pedals shipped out)....I replaced the caps with some generic radioshack 1uf's and now the pedal doesn't work, I have checked and rechecked and it seems that everything is soldered down ok(unless I just keep overlooking something).....one thing that I didn't do was pay attention to which direction the caps where facing....do caps and resistors need to face a certain direction to work right???

with electrolytic and Tantalum, yes the direction does matter they are polarized. usually the - is marked.

usually they are put in – to ground.
If the signal passes through it, as in an input or out put, then it's different.

If one is connected between the input jack and the board, put the + to the jack and the – to the board.
If it's from the board to the output jack, put the + to the board and – to the jack.

ok, so ceramic caps aren't polarized...good. only that doesn't explain why my GZ isn't working at all now......I have been trying to figure out what is wrong. I just realized that I may have cold soldered a couple of them, I have a digimultimeter, do I just set it up to read ohms to test if I have a connection?
