First-gen Malekko Ekko/Chicken - expression question

Wondering if someone with more experience than I, might be able to help me think this one out... (bare in mind, my experience is quite limited and this is all up in my head atm) (whistles)

I have the fortune of having a Spring Chicken LE, and two 600s (bright and dark). I use an expression pedal with them (found out you need one with a 10K pot the hard way), but find that I don't typically do a lot of controlled "swells". I more keep it in the heel position and occasionally dump it, to go in to freak-out, noise/oscillation-mode

- and that's primarily with the chicken...
WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE... to build a mini box using a momentary switch, that I can plug in to the expression jack and press to emulate a proper expression pedal in full, toe-down mode, and freak out my 'verb/delays? And taking that one step farther, could I cram that x3 in to one box and be able to freak out all 3?!
I'm thinking the part-list would be momentary switch, enclosure, stereo jack and 10k resistor? It's not that simple, is it!?

yes. totally possible.
you could even put 2 pots on it, one is the 'button pressed' level and one is the 'button released' level.

I'm pretty sure there are some common DL4 mods that do exactly this. That may be a starting point to give you some ideas.

Thanks! I've built a volume box, modded a crybaby in to an expression (HACK JOB!!) and general soldering (pups, etc) but I've not done "this" type of thing before. Hahahaha... you know when you doubt yourself and it almost seems too easy?! I hope this isn't the case here.

Okay... I was wondering if I could do that with the button released level. I was thinking... it's not going to allow me much effect when it's inactive...
I'll have to do some digging and find out values and where to put them and such.

Yep - that's actually where it started - looking at the this1smyne stuffs.

hey, this should work. if the schem is too porrly drawn let me know.

you can get a suitable switch through mammoth
http://www.mammothelectronics.com/4SFS2 ... 0-1017.htmthere are simpler ways maybe to do it but since you said your pedal is picky for 10k, this scheme will completely remove the non-selected pot from the circuit so its always just like a 10k expression pedal. the "tip ring sleeve" are the 3 sections of a stereo 1/4 inch jack.

Glad I found this thread by chance...

Have a pair of Roland EV5s that both work with the E600B but not the Spring Chicken...wasn't sure if it was the resistance or an issue with the pedal itself.
It worked fine with a Toneczar modded VP Jr but I sold that because 1) it fetched good money and 2) the fragility of a string/pulley type setup is less than ideal for an expression pedal. Couldn't remember what the pot value was...until now.
I know I'm in the right place when a question I didn't even ask gets answered, just by browsing "view new posts"

I'm going to give that a shot, and will be sure to let you know how I make out.
If I get confuddled, mind if I drop you an email?
Glad I could inadvertently and unintentionally help, rusty!

Here's a short clip with some sort of delay on a function gen. Seems to work ok.

Nearly missed this!!
@1:28-on <3
That sounds really cool - thanks a ton. It seems like the expression extension would be a useful tool.
Still have to build mine; but I'm hoping to get at it sooner than later.
Thanks for posting the demo!
