Piano sounds like a straight up piano.

Yeah that's for certain. But maybe he wants to replicate it with a guitar.

oh, I dunno if it's just my speakers or somethin but the piano sounds distorted to me. maybe the way it was recorded?
any way I could replicate that on a keyboard/synth or whatever?

tons of ways. simply recording quality or running it through something like the lofi or just light distortions & reverb.

I would love for someone to post one of these and then realize that there speakers have been blown for years...
That actually sounds like the Roland/Boss Lo-Fi/Phono algorithm... It gives you warble, crackle, noise and that skipping sound to mess with... You could replicate it with a shitty tape deck...

http://www.nowness.com/day/2012/1/12/18 ... st-goodbyeCool cool piano sound. There's a plugin called Speakerphone that might get you there if you have a DAW. It's expensive but pretty cool.
http://www.audioease.com/Pages/Speakerp ... phone.htmlDefinitely need something that would degrade the sound and add some warbles and stuff. The rest is just EQ.

well I was doing some research into keyboards and stuff
and eff it I'm gonna get a fender rhoads
I doubt it'll get the same tone but if I throw some effects at it I could get a cool sound
like some reverb and an overdrive with a blend knob

Dude?
I think you're gonna be one happy electric pianist (especially after listening to this second clip):

VINYL SIM!!!!! my favoriteeeeeeeee effect of all time....that compression is so gritty
oh and u can't ever go wrong w/ a rhoads. my friend has one, we just hit random keys sometimes and sample that, chop it and flip it..the sound is that good.

What is this algorithm you speak of?

i thought he was referring to the vinyl sim effect that is popular on the sp samplers...maybe i was wrong doe
or maybe just some of the fx on sp's, sounds exactly like what he is explaining.

FWIW the piano sounds like an upright. you could make a tape loop and then do it the Xenakis way: take tape with adhesive and granuleize the tape.
