*Facepalm* Guitar Cables

I hate to start a TGP type thread on ILF, but I need to buy new cables for my main guitar>pedals and pedals>amp. I am NOT a cable hype type guy. People get really bent outta shape about cables, but will then use a pedal that a tiny gauge cable with exposed shielding. I have gone through a few differ 20' cables and they really do sound different. I have some of the cheaper Fender coily cables that get all staticy when they stretch, some cheaper dimarizo cables that seem to roll off the top end. Older Raod Hog cables that were good but the end kept needing to be resoldered and new connnectors added.

They all really do sound different damn it. I want to keep that high end response without it sounding shrill or clipped.

Whatcha using, Whatcha like.

Amazon Rainbows

I haven't noticed any negative sounds, they sound better than the grab-a-cable out of the plastic bin at GC cables.

I use a Bullet Coil from guitar to board and Lava Magma from board to amp.
In between pedals, I use Hosa but I use 4 pedals so it's only 18".
I did notice a difference going from dirt cheap to decent cables on the longer runs so
if you have a bigger board you may want to use something better between pedals.

In my opinion, cheaper speaker cables don't make a difference in toan but may fail sooner. :idk:

I've gotten the most longevity out of a Bullet Coil as well. I got a Vox coil that has gone out since I bought it, so be advised on their quality control.
Mammoth Electronics is a good source for pancake plug patch cables, good price as well.

oh well yes, if you aren't using a bullet coily cable from guitar to first fuzz then you are doing everything else wrong as well. Color effects the tone with bullet coils though, thats why I went with seafoam.

i've been using Rapco cables from the shops i used to frequent in California, and a black Bullet coily cable from the guitar. for the board i have an assortment of Hosas and Rapcos depending on the cable length, i'm not really a believer in super-high-end cables, because i figure the amount of signal degradation from running through 14 boxes and a volume pedal is greater than i'd get unless i was using cheapo-cheapo cables.

Been using the vox coil cable for a few years and I like it
Have mammoth electronic pancake cables in between pedals
And then a monster cable from last pedal to amp
Isn't the best but its not bad and whenever it gets beat up/fails I can go to good ol guitar center and replace it for a brand new one for free

i use a lava coil cable but i sometimes think to myself
"shoulda gotta bullet" because usually it's great but sometimes it's noisy as fuck.
I also ordered the amp-to-cab from lava but i don't remember the true manufacturer..
Then i've got planet waves 6-inchers for effects (just an echoplex in the amp's effects loop)

FACEPALM CABLES? NEVER HEARD OF 'EM.

Ah, fuck. Ruined my "joke".

I use a Mogami cable with Neutrik gold-plated jacks (bass/guitar -> pedals). Seems to do the trick.

I use bullet coil cables from guitar to board, hosa in between pedals, and a no name cable from board to amp. actually I have cheap no name cables through most of signal chain. I only recently switched back to the bullet cable after repairing it. it went dead after 6 months of use, but I finally fixed it. you don't hear about them failing that often, but I guess I just got unlucky.

I use the Lava Magmas as well. I like the solid rep that Lava has and that they seem to be willing to replace anything that fails, but I didn't want to spend the kind of cheese they ask for most of their line. The Magamas sound fine and are tough enough for hard stage use. I never got the coily cable hype myself.

For me, it's not a hype thing. It's nice not having a considerable length of cable somewhere under my feet. Conducive to my unstable flailing.
I'm using Bullet coilys.
