So who/what is/was Mellowtone?
I've seen the million incarnations of the singing tree (which soundz good to me in demos),
The CCDC confuses and titilates me,
And the wolf computer, well, I don't know if it's my thing....
BUT what's the deal? Did they not have a hosted pedal builder thing at one point? Or something?

Went out of business. Screwed several peoples here over - including me.
His stuff is very good. Wolf Computer is my main fuzz in one of my bands. But i never got the chance to try other stuff (see above).
Mr. Wire (-->Sharktank) makes a Wolf Computer clone.

Yeah, he left after some questionable business took place.
A brief run down:
Wolf computer: fuzz face with a pre-boost and some mad glitching (much beloved around here). Got a smaller version called the Mini Wolf CPU
Trumpet Fuzz: a two knobber from the party-favour series (same series as the mini wolf CPU) with some brass tones. You never see it around here for some reason.
Singing tree: one of his early pedals; a good overdrive. Number 1 circulates here from time to time
Hi-Five: a simple booster with tone control
Clean Chan Dirty Chan/ Dirty Chan Clean Chan: Two modified hi-fives combined together into a super rad and sought after boost (I currently stock pile them). The nail in Eric's coffin was a run of improved CC/DCs that took forever to arrive, and a significant number of people never received theirs.
Melxotone: A take on the distortion circuit built into old electra brand guitars. HCFX toy that is super-duper rare, I've only seen one original go up in the b/s/t since I've been here. He did a run of Melx2 s, which were the same circuit with a volume pot added.
He also did a bunch of small runs and one-offs that I can't really speak on, but you can still see some demos on his youtube channel.

So bummed that he's remembered for the stuff that went down at the end. He was one of the OG ILF builders, and a very sweet guy.
His stuff is awesome - I haven't tried the Singing Tree, though many sing its praises. I have a Wolf Computer, though, and it is face-meltingly awesome.
For a little while, I think he was releasing some schematics, and letting other builders carry on his designs - Fuzzhugger did the Wolf Computer for a little while. I wonder if you could find a schem for the Singing Tree out there in the interwebs. I bet that would be a great circuit for a builder to resurrect.

Mellowtone pedals are so rad, and I have been fortunate to try just about everything. Still want to try a party favor trumpet fuzz and mini wolf.
Just had my CC/DC moded by McSpunkle, and its even more rad than before.

Yeah, I'd love to try those too! We've gotta get someone to license the old Mellowtone circuits! Maybe Tom will revisit...

Always loved the Wolf Computer it was the perfect balance between zvex's fuzz factory and devi's truly beautiful disaster.
One thing that I loved about Mellowtone that hasn't been mentioned was their pedals seemed to be based on pure fun. With each builder here you get a sense of what the builder intended when you play their pedals; their personalities. Mellowtone always gave me a sense of playing with a toy for the first time. Loved their graphics too, especially the original singing tree and wolf computer graphics.

the Hi 5 is my favorite clean boost, and gets gritty with the gain turned up.

I don't know anything about said shady business at the end, but I agree, if you see Mellowtone, buy it up. I had a 3 Knob Singing Tree, great TS-style drive, but looser feeling (and I don't even like TS's). To this day I have had a Wizard Fountain on my board for 5 years and it has never left. It's a great, clean blended fuzz that sounds like the perfect haze between overdrive and fuzz. It has been my base dirt tone for years and I have basically stopped looking into traditional overdrives because of it. All I have to do if I want to get my blues dad on is roll my volume back a few hairs and it's all there. It's discontinued but the schematic was released awhile back so I'm sure a clone could be easily made.
I also was one of the lucky few who got one of 3 or 4 Miracle Rabbit fuzzes, which was a massive sounding 2 knob Muff circuit. Of the pedals I have owned of the line, I couldn't find a bad setting out of them.

I slightly regret selling my CC/DC and my mini Wolf CPU but still clutch dearly to my Wolf Computer, Hi-Five Party Favor, Singing Tree, Melx2, Trumpet Fuzz, and a prototype in an etched box. I'm saddened that I didn't get to try a miracle rabbit or wizard fountain but all the other ones are awesome.
Like others have mentioned if you come across some buy them up, at least to try.

Wolf Computer is LEGENDARY for beating Zvex Fuzz Factory in so many ways, and as the old Zvex users changed their mind and spread the word about the Wolf Comp they provoking Zach to douchbaggery on forums that eventually lead himself being banned on HCFX
Wirard Fountain got a Facebook fan page of its own a few years ago when we wanted Eric to officially re-release it or at least give out the circuit (which I think he did - just don't know how many has been DIY'd of those schematics).
Eric was - probably still is - a fun, helpful person that I felt genuinely loved interacting with the ILF forum members, and offered superb short run special ILF stuff for next to nothing. Never left any of my questions unanswered, never foul mouthed about others behind the back and even gave even the douches a chance to stand up, and say sorry - and that's it.

I find it hard to believe he has went out with any reason to have a bad name. Sounds... so not Eric to me.

In the 4+ years on here, I have never seen a Wizard Foubtain in b/s/t. Whoever has one is keeping it.
