Oi, mates, anyone tried a Trace Elliott Velocette?

I've found one for sale that might be a good complementary amp for a bi-amping scenario in my bedroom. Power rating of 15W seems about right for my purpose. I've read that the output transformers on these were crap, but this one has a replacement. I think it is the version with the 10" speaker but I don't know for sure yet. I'm looking for an amp that does nice, fenderesque cleans to compliment a set to bite KT88 amp on the other side. Have any of you played one of these guys before and can either en- or discourage me to buy it?
Looks a lot like this one here:

I've played the 15" speaker version and it's amazing. Seriously underrated amp. I'm sure the 10" is just as good. It's more like a Gibson Skylark than a Fender, but it does have awesome cleans and good headroom.
The transformers were inconsistent, but that shouldn't turn you away since that one was already found out and replaced.

It's basically an attempt at at a bare-bones Vox top-boost sound, ala AC-30. Really not bad at it, either. It'll probably be a bit gainy if you're chasing a "Fender clean" sort of sound, but they're nice.
The output transformers do tend to go. I think Mojotone stocks replacements, but if they're the original units, it might be better to just pick something more robust. A schematic I've seen shows a pretty low primary impedance for a pair of EL-84s, something like 5600 ohms. Not as severe as the Matchless Lightning and Spitfire's 50% mismatch at 4000 ohms, but closer to 8000 would be less temperamental. (At least the Matchless transformers tend to last -- the amps just eat tubes instead.)

Played one once, it sounded pretty good as I recall. Darker than I expected? I can't remember.

I used to own the 2-10 model - it was a sweet sounding amp - some of the early ones had problems with the power transformer I recall.
