Cracked neck advice

Hey guys
So, I was playing my Hagstrom III tonight at rehearsal and noticed that the neck has gotten a crack from the headstock all the way up to where it bolts on the body...Has anyone here had to get anything like that repaired/know if it's even fixable? I'm in love with this guitar and would be really bummed if the neck is beyond repair.
Thanks for any help/advice.

Pictures would help. It's quite a difference if it's just a finish crack, or if the actual wood is cracked.

I'll get pictures later, but it definitely is a wood crack, since the wood around the crack can visibly shift when it encounters minimal pressure. Off to get an estimate to repair it now!

After talking to a ton of guitar repair experts in New England over the last few days, the consensus seems to be that this is an unrepairable break. Major bummer...They say that since it's on such a slim neck and goes all the way through the wood, there's no way to properly fix it and guarantee that it won't split again first time it encounters any temp changes.

That being said, anyone want to suggest a good guitar that I can grab on a budget of about $800? I'm looking into a Kramer DMZ-2000...Any of you guys have one?

That's too bad.

You should be able to score another Hag III for $800, right? Or are you looking for something different?

I'd like something different. I loved the neck on it to death (literally), but the pickups didn't put out quite enough for my taste. I'm really looking for something that cuts well

Yeah, I used to have a Hagström III. The neck was too small for me.

Something that cuts? How 'bout a Tele?

(How much are those Kramer DMZ-2000s going for these days?)

I've been tempted by Tele's but I've never found one with the right neck for me...All that I've played have felt a bit like a baseball bat. I know they all aren't like that, but I don't want to spend forever looking for one that's super slim...
I've got a good lead on a DMZ-2000 for $750 right now. It seems totally reasonable considering that a lot of them are pushing $1200

Yeah, Tele necks aren't generally svelte.

I'd say, if you can snag that Kramer, do it. If you don't end up liking it, you can always make your money back.

That was kind of my rationale. When it gets down to it, I need something to play, pronto...So I may as well jump on this and cross my fingers, right?

Sounds like a plan to me.

A buddy of mine just got one of those Kramers and it's pretty badass. Not sure how it'll do for cutting through a mix though. Never heard it in a band setting. Necks are kinda thick on those too, no?

I'd say they're comparable to Tele necks, maybe just a little less chunky. Almost nothing is as thin as those Hagström necks.

One thing is for sure - you will not be cracking that Kramer neck.

I've heard they cut incredibly well. Hopefully that's true... With the split coils you at least have a lot of options!
And the neck on the one I played recently wasn't unbearably thick...Just a little wider than I am used to, which was a nice change from the narrow Hagstrom necks
