Hybrid between Minitaur, Little Phatty and Voyager Old School. I'm thinking it's kinda reminiscent of the micro-moog.

Price point may change that attitude. Cant you hook up a midi keyboard to it expanding that anyways?

That's a lot of people's gripe with the Minibrute as well, but do you really need more keys for what is essentially a bass synth? You could always use a controller keyboard if you need more keys. I'm stoked about the Sub Phatty and I'll probably pick one up if its in the sub-$800 range.

I don't care about keys. I use midi Sequenzer. Is there a midi in?

The rumor mill puts the sub phatty at $1000. Dont know if that was dealer or street, but considering the product, I'd imagine $1k street is possible.

I'm pretty sure it will have MIDI in and out, and USB, just liek the minitaur, and probably a super-stiff preset storage system, ala minitaur as well.

PS, where is that pic from? NOt seeing at at Moogs website or facebook... might be bullshit... Although a lot of the specs are confirmed by the video...

Dude. Moogs are made by people's hands in the USA. It's a miracle they can put out the things they do, at the prices they do.
If I made something like a Minitaur, you can bet your ass it'd cost a good bit more than $600.

Dude. I can not argue that Moogs are expensive, from an outside perspective. They do cost a LOT of money. This guy here saved up for a year to buy his first Telecaster at $369. There's a lot that go into the moogs that you don't get from other companies.

Moogs are made by people's hands in the USA. That puts the labor cost alone at at least 4x that of say, an Arturia minibrute which is built overseas. Then there's the costs of a factory in the US, insurance, and all those little things that actually become big price tags in the US.

Then there's the issue of quality. I'm the proud owner of a couple Moogs, one being the Minitaur. This thing is a brick. I don't know how they do it, but it all feels totally solid, and the knob action is smooth as anything I've ever handled. Then add in the whole digital control element. It's probably pretty simple as far as programming goes, but to shoehorn that into a little analog synth is something I'm sure not going to tackle any time soon.

To be sure, a Moog is a luxury item. Any function you can find on a Moog can be replicated (sometimes more accurately than others) on a cheaper digital synth or software synth. But in my experience, the physical control is a wonderful luxury, and yes, sometimes the "real thing" does sound "better."

From the perspective of a guy who used to be dirt poor, and got pretty damn well paid building instruments and effects, they are worth it. HOWEVER they're going to have to wow me pretty good to keep me saving up for a Voyager after I play with this Sub Phatty...

Little Phatty - Yeah man that thing is uggo. And with four knobs it's really counterintuitive to create on. I still use mine quite a bit though, but usually just with presets, or presets we've (laboriously) altered and saved for performance.
