Jazzmaster Rant

I'm certain this topic has come up before, but it makes me furious! Back in September I went to buy a '62 reissue, only to find that they had recently been discontinued. This new '65 version comes out, but it's over $2,000 (not the kind of guitar I want to take on the road). How has Fender not released an American Standard Jazzmaster yet? The '62 occupied what I thought was a fair price point for an upscale instrument, but now there's nothing in the $1,000 - $2,000 range for an American made instrument. I emailed Fender's customer relations center about this not long ago, and never heard back. People would buy those guitars! Forums are filled with them asking for this! What say you guys? Do you think they'll come out with something like this soon? Surely they won't leave such a monetary gap in their models.

yeah, i feel like it's better to build a parts Jazzmaster than trying to fit in the ridiculously spaced out "stages" of JM models

i mean.. get yourselves some MJT body+neck, buy a set of antiquities/mojo/whatevers and you're kinda set for a great price and i believe a good quality Jazzmaster... only not really a fender :idk: might be the way i'll choose one day

Yeah you're better off doing a parts build, or finding someone that can for you. There's a guy in Sydney that does JM/Jag builds with top notch parts for about $1300, I'm sure you wouldn't have to look too hard to find someone that can do that.
Fender's catalog is ridiculous, I know a lot of people buy strats but 114 different models? Really? But something as simple as an american standard jazzmaster is out of reach.. :(

SOON

Hmmmm, that is strange, just wondering recently why nobody stocks the AVRI in any cool finish options now days. Guess that it explains it.

There's always the Thurston Moore sig for around $1300-1500...

Or the Mascis models if you wanna spend less $.

Get a Squier VM and stop caring about brand names and specific models? :idk:

the way i'm living right now... slowly upgrading with upgrades you'd have to do anyway with more expensive models... except for the tune-o-matic bridge, i'm more happy than i¨ve been when trying CP fenders (the two i've tried almost got me dismiss Jazzmasters for life  )

BUT if you want say... nitro finish or different colours, matching headstocks... those MTJ replacement bodies are the way to go i'd say :)

I finally got a response from Fender saying my message had been forwarded to their product department, but who knows what will happen with it. I would just like to see some of the cooler Jazzmaster colors be offered at more affordable prices. Sunburst is cool, but c'mon...
