A CABLES POLL OKAY (Ryan Summit Appreciation Thread)

I KNOW there are millions of cable threads but I am far too lazy to read through all of them. SO, easy peasy poll for the BEST CABLES for the BEST PRICES (I can assemble my own, solderless or not). These are the ones that I hear about the most. I got some pay pal money and a pile of dead cables.. so it's finally time for this shit.

If the rainbows are the ones I think they are, I wouldn't recommend them. (edit: I remember now that I got the Musician's Gear branded ones) The ones I have started to go bad after a year or so, and at least three are dead now. I've been happy with my Hosa's, which I've had for over a year with no problems, but apparently they don't get great reviews, so you might want to avoid those, too.

Also, I dislike solderless cables on principle.

If you're just gonna use for the board and trying stuff out it's good to have a bunch of colorful pre-mades that'll work for cheap...
Or you could spend $700...

I've had the same two planet waves cables since I started.... on bass! which was like middle school... like 6-7 years
but the cables are probably more like 4-6 years old but still!
Assuming you're talking about long cables and not patches
EDIT: u say patches, nvm

If you don't move your pedals around and just keep them velcro'd down, I've found solderless aren't bad. They start to mess up in a bad way (crackling, noise, and not working at all) if you unplug/replug them all the time. Obviously you can fix this, but it is a hassle to do it and it eventually cuts down on the cable length.
I've had a cheap colorful patch last for several years now. Low profile by chance. No complaints except once it goes bad, it's done for.
I recently got Mammoth pancakes and love them. Favorite so far because I know they can be fixed without worrying about losing cable length, they last due to the solder, and they are very low profile.
I've had some Planet Waves patches for a couple years. Never give me a problem, but the right angle plugs stick out wayyyy to far for small or tight boards. Only use them big boards with space or top-mounted jacks.
My recommendation: Mammoth pancakes.

The cable going from my bass to my pedalboard is a Mogami Gold cable with Neutrik connectors. On my board, everything is connected with the Planet Waves cable board kit. Going from the board to my amp is a random Yorkville cable.

for my board I generally buy Hosas from the local music stores--pancakes forevah!--and have no problems/complaints despite my obsessive-compulsive board rearranging. i haven't killed one yet. i can't afford a Lava kit or the equivalent. i do want to make up some odd-length cables, though. 9"/15"/18" would be handy since i often have cable runs too long for the standard 6"/1'/2' lengths.
