How do you guys like it? Any cons? How is the durability? I've heard a lot of people complain about how the Toy is built like SHIT.

had mine for well over a year without any problems
i recently bought a disaster transport thinking it could get the same sound but there's something unique to the memory boy/man

Pretty cool sounding, has a mind of its own sometimes, but I could never get the right mix of dry/wet signal for my tastes. I always felt that either the delayed signal was overwhelming my clean or I couldn't hear the delay signal. I had this problem with the deluxe as well... it might have been that I was using them before a pre-amp and it was amplifying the delays once it got to a certain point.

Very fun delay box though, funky modulation and when the feedback knob is on the verge of infinite repeats it can stop and start depending on how hard you strum. I don't know if anyone else experienced that or if it was just the ones I had but it was pretty rad.

I have owned 2 and wish I kept the last
miss having legit analog

plus it did the best freakout sounds imaginable

very capable of robot noises as well as traditional delay

If I'm not mistaken it's kind of temperature sensitive, yeah?

It's ok, the modulation just gets really out of hand quickly and it becomes tough to use practically. Although full wet, square-wave tremolo, is like the coolest crazy sound ever.

I've had mine for about three years and haven't had any problems. I like it more for the untraditional sounds it can make. Also fun to control it with an expression pedal. Sound wise it's a bit dark but it doesn't bother me. They aren't too expensive new and you can probably get a used one for a decent price.

Pretty certain that's the Memory Boy I used to own. I think I would still have it if I didn't feel guilty turning the modulation all the way off. A waste of modulation, y'know?

Yeah I NEVER used the modulation on mine--probably the reason I flipped as well.
I was super excited about the expression pedal option but ultimately turned out to be near useless for me. I did like that the repeats can be dark/cold but sometimes they sound pretty flat and lifeless. I also had a tough time with it sounding different every time I used it.
All that said, I miss mine a bit too... :idk: Every once in a while I pull out a recording we did a few years back where I used it, and I have to admit it sounds in-fucking-credible for what I was doing. For what they cost you could do worse, and it's something different than a CC...

I bought one right when they came out and at first I didn't know what to make of it.
I really wanted it to sound like a Memory Man, but the delay's tone was really weird, dark and muffled.
But then I realized that it's amazing for a whole bunch of different reasons, like the modulation (which is fucking awesome), the expression pedal option, and the overall whackiness of it.
I wouldn't use it as my only delay on my board, but it comes in handy for sure if you want some different sounds.

I liked mine a lot, but the Dirge Cave Dweller kicked it off of my board and outa my life. It's the pedal that's remained the longest on my board though! I think having an expression pedal opens up a lot more possibilities though. I think that one good looking member nieh is actually selling one in the b/s/t. I think he even has an expression pedal he would sell too. maybe check it out?

I enjoyed mine. I tend to prefer dark delays anyhow. And I have a friend that uses one basically as a vibrato and then layers that with a DD-6 going into it, which is rad. I've also owned two memory toys, which I liked honestly a bit more.
Buuuuut, you know how it goes.

love mine, won't ever get rid of it. plays well in a long chain of delays and verbs.
