Played the first pedal that I don't like.

Got a Boss FRV-1 today, and was it is super disappointing. Running my hawk into it, it sounded like shee-it. As soon as I turned fuzz on it sounded like metallic trebly ass. Clean it sounds pretty decent, but almost sounds like a slapback with long repeats. It's weird, never thought I'd meet a pedal I don't like. As far as being a sole reverb, it's pretty much garbage.

Word it's the COSM fuckin it up... COSM is good for Rolands Keyboards and stuff but it usually sounds like ass on guitars... I was wondering about this one and the FDR-1 just yesterday...

I had a Boss ME-50 back in my early days and that thing taught me to steer clear of anything with the word COSM on it. That said, I've seen it utilized by bass players with some good results, the mod/pitch shifting/whammy portions at least. The dirt is laughably bad.

I know. I quit. I'm retiring from ILF and pedals, and will now get a CPA and analyze fiscal expenses managing tangible assets.

Yeah, I use to think people were just biased against digital/COSM. I suppose one could use an effed up metallic tone as such in the studio for something, But this pedal isn't too great for use as a dedicated reverb.

Well it is supposed to be a specific type of reverb that is not for everybody, PGS's demo is a pretty good one but yeah spiky and metallic...

Try putting it before fuzz?

....chut up.
Nah, that would probably solve a lot of my problems. However, I don't really care for it clean either.
I don't mean to say the FRV1 is a piece of shit or something. I just thought it was crazy that I was like, "...I don't really care for this pedal." PGS demos sound legit, though.

this path leads to overhyped overdrives, fake relic strats and really simple but incredibly expensive amps that are just slightly tweaked bassman circuits, yanno...

Just turn all the knobs up, and use it on one song.

i had one when they first came out and it sucked! from my experience the subdecay spring theory is the way to go for a spring reverb pedal if that is what your after.

Yeah, dude. That sucks. When I got my first phaser, I was so excited for it. I got a Boss ph-3. And even then, me being new to effects and everything, I played for like an hour with it and couldn't stand it. Everything was awful about it

A few pedals have been like that since but that was the worst I remember. I'm just happy it didn't steer me away from what phaser can really do though!
But yeah, it's a lot more expensive but I just got the new solid gold spring reverb and it's the best reverb I've owned yet! If you're still looking for a spring, that is.

What's 'COSM'?
