Should I ditch the DL4 for a Kaoss Pad KP3?

in my band my vocalist uses the DL4 to incorporate vocal loops. However ,w e're thinking of exploring further with vocal loops, so a KP3 opens up a lot more possibilities.

How is the looping with a KP3?
Should I still keep the DL4 for looping and chain it to the KP3 for soundmangling?

Ask Sudar nicely about borrowing one of his KP3s to try it out?

The KP3 is a great multi-effects unit, but for looping it has its quirks, most notably BPM drift. My KP3, as well as many users on the Korg forums' KP3s, suffer from BPM drift, so you may have a loop going just fine, but eventually it starts to "speed up" ever so slightly (the tail gets cut off by an extremely small amount). If it's repeating itself for a while, it can get pretty noticeable (at least to me). Personally, I wouldn't rely on the KP3 solely for looping, especially if you want it on the ground (and if you plan on engaging/disengaging it from there) - the buttons are small, spongy, and close together.

granted i haven't dabbled with many loopers
so this may make my opinion slightly invalid but
i think the DL4 has one of the better interfaces for live recording. it just feels right..

maybe look into that band Battles, i think they use some pretty serious looping devices along with the DL4

KP3 has some cool fx but for dependability of the loops I'd stick with the DL4, if you must choose.

They use Gibson Echoplexes mostly for looping

Try the M9! More effects, same looper etc. The DL4's reverse/half speed function is the most important thing about it imo.

Yeah the Echoplex seems like the best looper for guitar you can buy, but it's pretty $$$$
