God do I love it when the bass is cranked and rattling my chest
and the more my bassist cranks it, the happier I am.
so I found myself saying this to the bassist in my band this week:
"More bass isn't louder, it's just more bass"
I was amused, he was amused, everyone was amused,
thought i'd share.
anyone else experience this truth?

I wish more bandmates, soundmen and bar owners felt this way.

Yeah. I don't worry about volume, only about the chest shattering low end that's pushing me away.

I worked for a soundguy that couldn't get enough bass.
Unfortunately half of the time he eq'd basses so they only had treble.

I love to crank my bass. My band only has one guitarist and I play with two fuzz pedals (and a boost). We like to play loud.

more keyboards.
but yeah, more bass is usually good. but not always... those crazy bass-trap resonant frequencies when you play in weird rooms or on hollow stages are the worst.

I love speaker cabinets that throw all the bass super far away, so I end up cranking it and getting responses from my friends after the show along the lines of "It was so loud, I couldn't really hear anything, I could only feel it. My ears essentially shut down."

I brough earplugs to the Sunn show when I saw them a few months back. Took them out 3 minutes in. It wasn't about how LOUD it was, I've heard much louder. It was about FEELING it, and I felt like shit the entire time and couldn't breathe because of the force of the sound

I like the bass so loud that it shakes the bowels and borders on stopping the heartbeat. But i don't like it when the bass is really loud when they aren't hitting the right notes or aren't picking as fast as I like it...

Depends on the band.
