Frostwave Resonator or Iron Ether Xerograph

Background Info: I like making synthy bloops on my bass. I have recently had an Iron Ether Xerograph DLX and I love it. It has super fast response, huge sweeps, and a really crisp sound. I decided to let it go so I could get a MF-101 (again) and use it with my Moog MP-201 for CV fun. I really just like the Xero D a lot more than the MF-101 for what I am doing. I may have a work-around to at least send LFOs and Expression control for the Xerograph but I won't be able to know for sure for awhile.
So, as I am getting it together to get rid of the MF-101 (I just sold it today), I come across the Resonator. I have played other MS-20 clones (Robot Factory Brain Freeze) and dug it. I have heard many good things about the Resonator, it does have a bunch of CV control options too so it could jump right into being used with the MP-201.
I think the Resonator won't sound as gritty as the Brain Freeze because the BF has a gain knob, but I can live without that, the XeroD isn't a dirty sounding filter either.
The Resonator would cost me about $100 more than a XeroD. Money does matter but I can figure something out if the Resonator is gold.
No Youtube videos of it being used how I would use it.
Anybody have experience with the Resonator? Thoughts, opinions? Thanks.

Those things are damn rare. I say jump on it. 325 seems like a good price for one too. I got mine for 450 and that seems like a normal rate on the bay. Sometimes they go for less, but not too often.
I am free tonight. If you want I'd record something for you. (I have no bass though, You'd have to make do with a treble stick)

You My DAWG!
I really would like to hear big expression controled sweeps with a synthy sound running into it.
I don't remember if you have a MP-201 (you do have some Koma stuff, right?) But if you do have a way to run an LFO through the cutoff, that would be neat.
Play it how you like, I know some pedals change how I play when I use them, so use it how you love to.

Suggestion from left field: Spencer from 3leaf told me he would be happy to build me a Wonderlove with CV in, back when I was hunting for more CV controlled filters. But I've been curious about the Frostwave with bass too. Here's the only Resonator bass clips I know of:
http://www.soundclick.com/player/single ... i&newref=1Clips are actually by the same guy selling the unit, from a few years ago.

You know, I have totally not even wanted to check out the Wonderlove, I am like TB Funk-Central. I know Spencer is a great builder though. Guess I'll look now, but I bet it would be expensive for him to customize.
That clip got nice at the end. Thanks for sharing that DB!

We didn't talk price but he implied it would be easy/cheap to do, the Wonderlove already has a manual expression jack for controlling the sweep.

Strange, because manual/foot controlled expression is resistor-based, like a regular pot. CV is control
voltage though and thus something completely different. At least as far as I know but I am by no means an expert when it comes to this.

The Wonderlove is interesting...effects loop, Attack and Decay controls, but no Cutoff knob, a high/low switch instead.
Not sure if I dig how it looks too.
Hmmm
I still just get the funk vibe from it but maybe it is more.

Pretty much what I was thinking too.

Frostwave Resonators are badass. I'd snap that up quick-like.

I have a Frostwave Resonator. It is my favorite filter, by far. The Resonator is great if you have (or plan to acquire) a lot of CV gear. You can CV the cutoff and resonance independently for each filter. The Resonator is built like a tank, the knobs are really smooth, the filters have a lot of headroom. The Resonator does not have a built-in envelope follower like the MF-101.

Wow, thanks for making your first post on this thread and making it so informative.
Since I have the Moog MP-201, I have more CV gear in my future. I know the MP-201 can send out an envelope too.
I contacted the guy with the Resonator again, I still want to hear those clips Mister Gorovitch.

at the very least, u could always flip the frostwave for more, if u dont like it, pocket the extra bills and get the xerograph (or whatever u decide upon).
not the most practical/elegant situation. but might be worth an extra $100 or so
