Look really rad and have great reviews, only complaint I hear is they are thickly coated in lacquer? SInce the Seafoam squire jags have been sold out since launch I was thinking about getting half of one of these paid for with Christmas. Also since I was wanting to make a Kosta Bottom Master clone, I was thinking I could always get a conversion neck for this guy and do that from time to time?

A conversion neck for the 24" scale is going to be a little hard to find if you want to turn it into a baritone

But it looks sweet. Never tried one though :(

I have one of these and a baritone jag HH. They are great guitars with alot of tonal options and great playability. As fas as finding a conversion neck, if you can find someone that makes a 27" (which is th baritone conversion for the 24" scale" please let me know! I've been looking so i could make my short scale into a backup of my baritone.

I just don't know whether or not to go for this or a used Marr Jag as I am seeing those go for just over a grand used. I figure by the time I get the money together after recovering form my amp purchase maybe they will be right around $1,000 used.

I did some research on the Marr Jag the other day and it looked 100x more neat than I had originally thought. The electronics seem so incredibly handy

i may catch some shit for this but here goes... if you want a jaguar, get the marr; if you just want a short scale guitar, you should still get the marr, unless you hate single coils / that awesome vibrato / yourself.

well here is another question for you all. Getting down to it, how do jags and JM's differ, why do some people prefer JM's over Jaguars?

jaguar = short scale, jazzmaster = normal scale. yeah there are some differences in the electronics, but mainly it comes down to the neck.

This /\ They are 2 completely different beasts. If you prefer single coils get a Marr,if you want humbuckers get an HH. To be honest i was actually pleasantly surprised by the tone of the HH's humbuckers, they have a PAF feel with a balanced tone. The highs are tame but present, the mids are killer and cut through, and the bass is thick but not loose and unusable. I do have a bareknuckle Mule in the bridge now though, and with the stock neck they match very very well. I haven't tried the Marr yet, i tried rocking fender single coils and it just doesnt work with my tone. Gibson + P-90's =   though....

What fever said, plus they have different types of pickups, Jm's p/u's are wide and flat, Jag's are thinner and narrower (closer to strat specs).

Yeah, I want that Marr pickup switching and those bright switches! I do love the regular Jaguar strangle switch though.

@Psyre - A good buddy of mine has the Jag HH Baritone, and that thing is a mean machine. Essentially why I couldn't pass up the Bottom Master. (Before I even really understood how insane the Bottom Master was.)

And regarding Jazzmasters vs. Jags - yes, the scale length is the big thing, like people have said, and they have different switching in their electronics. They sound incredibly different too. JM pickups to my ear sound smoother, bigger, more open, warmer, where Jaguar pickups have more crunch and bite and are a little bit thinner sounding.

Yeah. I really didn't think I would like the 24" scale of the Jaguar, but I've actually come to prefer it. Just feels a bit more comfortable, little less of an effort to play, etc. But then again I only played my Jazzmaster without the Baritone neck for two weeks....

Thanks for all the info

I just can't decide what I want I guess. I mean the HH would work better for the direction my band is going, with a slower/heavier/verbed style, but when I play on my own I am usually trying to figure out how the hell to play the blues, and I love that grit and bite the Singles have.
