Mah band: The Inclined

So I was meaning to hold off on posting this until our "proper" website was finished, and our "offical" album was released, but today's pretty much sucky, so I figured maybe a little band-pimpin' would lift my spirits.

For the amusement of one and all, I present my band, The Inclined:

http://www.myspace.com/theinclined

http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Inclined/43153932582 (no tracks up there yet, but supposedly this week)

The whole "abra-cadabra reveal" thing above is just because we've been working on this album for quite a while. Well, maybe not the album, so much as figuring out how to make the album. Basically we've spent the last couple of years figuring out our workflow and how to write songs in this incarnation. We kind of evolved from a "regular" band into an "electronic" band without really understanding how to write songs without turning up the amps and getting the drummer to give us a beat. So it took us a while to get the kinks ironed out. Hopefully it'll sound like we did, anyhow.

Oh, and while I play bass, I had to learn to write basslines that didn't conflict with the synth bass. So there's a lot of wannabe New Order high & melodic basslines going on there, as well as a good amount of POG.

Most everything was recorded direct and effected/manipulated in the studio, with certain exceptions like "Never Ending" (that has plenty o' pedal-effected tracks, though it's been so long, I don't know if I could tell you whats what anymore). Oh, and the bass sound for "Only Want to Be With You" is pure B:assmaster on an ugly kick.

If you want to listen to the whole thing, you can hear it on Last.fm:

http://www.last.fm/music/The+Inclined/The+First+Day+of+Many

And the label that's helping us put it out is http://www.75orlessrecords.com/, who are totally awestometastic.

And that's my story. I hope you like it. And if you wanna be friends on Myspace, well, so do we! (And that's the last pimpin' I'll do for the moment)

Yayy!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Thanks man. Turn Around was funny in that it was the toughest song by far to get right. What we finally came up with is basically a remix of the recordings we did... and redid... and redid. It was finally taking the whole thing and chopping it up puzzle-style that did the trick. So I'm glad all that work paid off!

Not sure what the synths used on that one were... there were plenty of 'em, and plenty of softsynths as well...

:omg:

didn't expect that. right up my alley (next to the passed out dance junkie). i absolutely love it.

i know what ya mean about sitting back and waiting...waiting....waiting....i've (we've...my partner and meself) been recording since january and have 15 songs in the can and it's getting close enuff to taste it....yet still feels far away from completion.
the waiting is the hardest part.

anyway......brassmaster's rule.
right on!

w00t!

I'm glad you liked it, elwd. Definitely let me know how to find your project when you've got something up - it sounds like something I'd dig!

Yeah, Mssr. Petty had it right on the waiting tip. But if you want to do it right, sometimes it's necessary. There were so many times when I wanted to cut some corners and just get it done, but now I'm glad that we stuck to our proverbial guns to get it right.

Now, where to take it from here is a whoooooooole 'nother question...

Oh, and we're working on making more, just as fast as our little synths can compute...

Bump for shameless self-pimping!

A limited edition hand-screenprinted run of our CD, The First Day of Many, is available for only $7 at http://www.75orlessrecords.com/. A great stocking stuffer! And... uh... it's purty lookin'. Here's a slightly blurry photo of the jackets drying, before the spines got screened with the album title.

Did I mention that they're cheap?

We'll be doing mass produced copies in January, but they'll probably be closer to the $10 range, given the cost to produce...

Oh, and you should totally check out 75orless for their other discs - everything from powerpunk & pop to avant jazz and Ween-style 4-track insanity. They're good peeps, and if anyone was looking to do a short run of an album, I'd point 'em in 75oLs direction in a heartbeat. Mark, who runs it, is a great guy and open to all types of music.
