Hello! For some time now I am busy with my one man noiserock/prepared guitar experiment.. I also do this as a school project, which is awesome of course. And because it is a school project, I hope some people can give me some feedback I can work with

Oh and if you want to be honest and still don't want to look like an asshole in public, you can pm me of course!

An experiment I did with a loose plug and some fx:

Fascinating! I spent a day two weeks ago recording some prepared piano (as well as general piano noise and extended technique), but for some reason it never occurred to me to attempt it with guitar other than the occasional sound. I'm very much looking forward to hear more.

Would you feel comfortable sharing what exactly you did to achieve the sounds that you did?

I thought about picking up an old free piano, but it takes so much room

I now have to go to a gig, but when I am back I will write some details down!

That first project track sounds like something Dan Deacon might put in in the middle of an album.

It is super fun to work with. All I really did was gather some sounds for sampling for music that I work on. I'm a HUUUUGE obsessive of Akira Ifukube (composer for Godzilla and other Japanese sci fi films in the 50s and 60s), and he used a lot of prepared piano, extended technique, etc to great effect, so I wanted to start building a library of sounds to use on pieces that I'm working on.

I'm lucky to have a friend with a baby grand in his living room, so we just took off the lid and recorded into my H4's onboard mics.

Track 4 is very Sonic Youth, I like that. I didn't listen to the 1st and 2nd, I liked the 3rd one as well and I think that you can definitely get more out of a bow than 5. It is a whole new technique and takes some practice to learn. Try to slow down your bowing as much as possible while still having a real tone from the string, try bowing on different parts of the string. Try angling the bow so that you only stroke the string with a very thin portion of it. Try changing the direction of your bowing unnoticeably.


Where was it you lived again? We should meet, hang out and jam.

Track 4 is the only one I took pictures of..



I used the screw to hammer on with the little stick, for the sounds at the beginning. for the rest I just played and drummed pretty much everywhere on the guitar, behind the bridge and the place where the tuningpegs are which I forgot the english name of :P

The screw is on the 9th fret, the guitar is tuned to EGDGCE..

I live in Schoonebeek, a small town near the German border, on the other side is Emlicheim, you probably never heard of either town :P

That's not too far! Had a girlfriend in Nordhorn a couple of years ago.

Oh, yeah, Nordhorn is like a 20 minutes half hour drive, but I am a Dutchie every trip longer than 200km is far
But how far is it from Köln too Nordhorn?

That would be doable as well, would be awesome! Unfortunately I am really busy with school and that kind of stuff! Would be really cool! There are some other dutch guys and germans right, might make it a musical ilf weekend?
