Looks like Queens enlisted Dave Grohl to play drums on the new album. Joey apparently "left" the band....
I, for one, prefer Grohl behind the drum kit cuz that's where he shines.

See, now I'm going to hold the new record up to SFTD... which I'm just realizing is a decade old. Holy crap.

Wow, as if SFTD is 10 years old. This is great news, Dave is brilliant on drums, and TCV was a fucking sick album so him and Josh can clearly still do good things together.

Dude fuck yes! Not digging on Joey, but Dave has got that shit like no other.

Absolutely stoked for the new album and hopefully a statewide tour as well.

Yeah, I got no problems with Joey, he beats the shit outta the drums which I love, but his style is far simpler and more straightforward than Grohl's. He filled in nicely, sounded fantastic live but when it comes to creatively awesome drumming, Grohl got that shit locked down.

That's just not fair. ;)

And yeah, time flies! :(

I hate to be one of Those Fans but after Them Crooked Vultures... I can't get excited over this.

I love Grohl. I love Castillo. I adore Kyuss and early QOTSA (up to Lullabies really). But man, kinda over being pumped over new material from this crew.

Maybe I'm just a curmudgeon though, definitely possible. :idk:

Either way, I don't care if Josh Homme starts doing Butt Light jingles, nothing will ever take away the majesty that is Welcome to Sky Valley and Songs For the Deaf. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

You should take a look at the songwriting credits for SFTD sometime. Homme's more of a curator than a songwriter--as the last couple records have shown.

:thumb: anything! anything! Anything to keep him from singing...

Point taken. Kind of similar to how I love King Crimson but less so Robert Fripp maybe? Not quite a fair comparison perhaps (for either "side"), but I am fucking loaded right now.

Yep. I'm just hoping that Lanegan makes some more appearances on this next one. I love his latest solo album, but his voice paired with Homme's riffs (and Grohl's skins) made for some of my favoritest rock songs ever.

YES. Although his latest solo album may be my favourite thing he's ever made, there's still something about the queens songs he's done.

It's just all around good news...I know folks rag on the last few "queens lite" records, but I am glad they're still putting music out.
I think he's a good drummer and did a great job but never felt Joey was a great fit for the band. It is crazy to think he's been their drummer for a decade...I was at their first show with him in Boston in 2002. Grohl is just such a monster on drums--even if it doesn't touch their earlier albums, you know it'll rock...
AND DADDY LANEGAN HAD BETTER SHOW UP FOR A FEW!!!
