My old tele may be dead???????

Not sure this counts as tech but I got a squier tele about 11 years ago that I have torn apart and rebuilt about 5 times
Currently set up as an HSH guitar
I have stipped the finish and repainted a few times and the pickguard that was once a custom job has all types of extra holes and such

haven't played it in a few months but wanted some sounds my other guitars weren't giving me the other day so I plugged it in and it just sounds lifeless.

Did I kill it?

I will try to post some pics later on but I am not sure what the next step is.
Maybe a re-wire
but it just sounds thin and has no resonance.

I busted the orignal nut a while back and just threw a cheap one in, I know that makes a difference but I didn't know it would make a once favorite guitar sound so depressing.

What would you do to get mojo back in a guitar?

Hows the bridge look? Might be wiring too

I am sure the wiring needs some love, I may throw in some fresh pots and such
and the bridge is fixed
and it's the original bridge with barrel saddles but it was cut off above the saddles to make room for the humbucker

Problem with replacing the bridge is I would want to go to a string through and that work is something I have never touched before

Yeah. And it might not even be worth trying to string-through, although string through is awesome. You could always get one of the small Tele saddles that are pre-cut for humbuckers!

yeah, I have a ton of options
may rewire without the tone knob and see if that adds some spark
have to measure the pickups too make sure they are alive

this poor guitar has been beat to death for years
it may just be dead

I know I know,
It just needs some love

The good news is I picked up my LTD with the floyd and it sounds really good
but not at all as heavy as you would expect because of the dimarzios

I feel like that guitar looks heavier than it is
solid black and all so maybe I need to heat strip it

Stupid question: Did you put some new strings on this tele?

Hmmm...maybe it's just one of those days. But check that the bolts on the neck are snug...to get its mojo back, I'd maybe try a different brand string (hex core maybe?), mess with pickup height?

That will only matter on open strings.
