Vintage Traynor // Phillips Norelco Speakers

Hey,
I remember a canadian user posting saying he was looking for 2x12 traynor cabs with Phillips norelcos. If I google it the post comes up but when you click on it it says it has been deleted. He seemed to know a lot about these speakers so I was looking for his or anyone who knows Phillips Norelcos to comment.
I recently got a Traynor 4x12 with these speakers. It sounds great until there is gain involved, even the tube break up of my bassman makes a very harsh metallic sound. Dirt pedals make this 100x worse. I have heard it is from the 'Whizzer' cones that sort of form a cone shape around the speaker cone and that some people remove these with an exact knife. I'm hoping to find out if this is a legit procedure and if so/ how do you do it.
Anyone have any info?
