Biasing a circuit...

Hi all,

Im new to the board. I love building fuzz pedals, but I don't understand how to bias the transistors. I have a feeling some of my circuits might sound wonky because of this... any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Depends on what part of what circuit you're trying to bias. ;)

in most pedals bias just means use the correct collector resistor so that the collector of a transistor is at 4.5v or half of your V+ power supply. voltage going into the base and other factors all play a role. you can bias on a breadboard using the hit or miss method. or you can just use a trimmer where the collector resistor should be.

Some like to see lower or higher voltages, so I tend to start at 1/2 V and go from there by ear.
