Brass nuts. Yay, or nay?

So I'm planning on changing a few things on my telecaster. Nothing serious. I love the pickups, and everything really, but I fucked up the volume knob, and the input jack is falling out. Also going to change the stupid recessed jack out for a flat one. That's the only thing on a telecaster that is stupid. So I'm changing that, and putting a cover on the humbucker, but that's all I was thinking...
Nuts. I started reading about brass nuts and was intrigued. Very intrigued.
Anyone have one on their guitar? The nut I have right now is graphite, and it's never let me down, but brass just seems like it would be badass.
Thoughts?

Cool if you use open strings a lot.

On the real though, I have a few guitars with brass nuts and I like 'em. They always had them though, so I didn't get the chance to A/B.

there are pros and cons to brass nuts. some folks think they add sustain; on the other hand, they make the strings much more metallic/"clanky"-sounding, especially on acoustic guitars. i'm already clangy enough with a bone nut, so i don't particularly care for brass nuts myself. on the other hand, if you want Big Clang and can't afford an aluminum-necked guitar a brass nut could be your new best friend.

^ Good thoughts on this.
Placebo effect can be really strong...and it's tough to A/B.
There aren't too many cases where I want to make my guitar sound metallic / clankier. I can do that with pedals, EQ, or pickup selection...but I don't want to perma-do it.

Hmm...
I think I'll just hold off for now.
Maybe for another guitar.

Doesn't it really only affect the open strings though? As soon as you fret something the nut is out of the equation, right?
If you were using a slide...would it make any difference? Doesn't the slide also become basically a movable nut?

go with Graphtech, much cheaper and better sound! Easier to work with, especially if you are doing it yourself...

I have it on my SG and it has a somewhat clear/open sound. Not really that much more sustain, probably a negilable amount. It can be harsh in certain set-ups but I like it a lot since I am down-always down-tuned at-least a full-step, usually more, more on my SG. Honestly, I would just get it if you are dead set on it otherwise I would look at your standard bone, graph-tech, or graphite nut.
