Death By Audio - Sound Saw schematic

I EFFING FOUND IT!

Image

I don't know/remember where it came from, or if it's any good.

There were some peeps here who were going to try and build a run of clones, but had some trouble - it was never clear whether it was with the schem or their business. YMMV.

Here's a gut shot (from ILF'er Jurioste)

Image

There is a builder out there making clones, but his Soundcloud demo doesn't showcase it very well, so who knows how comparable they are.

I finally found a real one after years of looking and it seriously rips.

That schems been around for ages, pretty sure I posted it in the soundsaw thread on here.

That gut shot and schematic are entirely different, the gut shot shows ICs & 4 Pots, the schem shows 5 pots & transistors.
Unless it was redesigned, one of those is wrong.

Edit: My mistake, the schem shows a dual gang... still doesn't match up as the guts have two dual gang.

Didnt, notice anyone was looking for it.

What does this thing even do that it's so special people are despereate for it?

Schematic in the first post does look workable, not a very good design though...
Let's assume the second version you posted the photo of was an update & redesign to fix issues.

If someone can get a decent trace and component side shot of this we can crack it.

if anyone has one and wants to get it traced for real, just send it to scruffie or me or anyone on here that is reputable. I know that lots of DBA pedals are out of production so I honestly think that this is a WIN-WIN situation for everyone. it would also make it quick and easy for a tech to perform repairs on the real DBA pedals with an accurate schematic. after tracing, I recommend that the schematic be posted on FSB to save ILF the legal headache that goes with hosting this kryptonite.

there was about three versions of this pedal. all being the sound but the first being the prototype that was house in an old russian big muff enclosure, then the perfboard first runs of this pedal, then the "final" version they did on PCBs.

i dont know why these pedals are so hard to find since they made about 100 of them. i've already come to own three over the years but sold them. i did take many pictures of my pedals and sent them to a friend of mine that i am working with ( theglasshero )

the glass hero clone is a revised version.

this one was for sale but no one snagged it

he has a few of these. the newer models we are working on features his awesome redesign to make it more useful and graphics supplied by a silk screen of the art that i have.

he is a GREAT builder who is going to order PCBs for this and open an etsy store. we'll also work on clones and spin offs of choice pedals from my collection. even COMBINING some pedals ;) ( sound saw + harmonic transformer? ) . we'll see.

i made these.. I reworked the above schem for improved stability and input/output impedence.. I have one of the opamp versions and i traced it, its not as good as the transistor version.. I dont know about posting schems or pics or anything on this site so if this post is against the rules please take it down..

I would say more but i normally stick to FSB because i can post anything over there without fear of breaking the rules..

posting DBA schems for out of production pedals is kinda grey area. we know DBA is still in business so they may bring back the old stuff or not. I do not expect DBA to send threatening letters to Tom (owns this site) but just in case they do, posting schematics on FSB would prevent all that while also ensuring a permanent host. posting pictures of your completed DIY project in the DIY section is totally fine. we love it. as long as you dont come in to the DIY section with 1 post spamming chineese michael jordan sneakers we pretty much let any fart maker in. you are defintely on topic so I can say that I do appreciate your first post. in the future though, just be careful how you promote your business. we have a BST, a amateur builder section called "shark tank" as well as full featured high profile established builder sub forums.

if you disagree with anything I said, that is fine with me. I am not a mod. PM a moderator if you have any questions.
