so, i want another guitar to have in standard tuning that's not a strat. what are some favorites around here in the 200ish range?

Used Godin. I'd also say use Fernandes Strat-clone if you hadn't said no Strats. (Their Tele clones don't show up often.)

Maybe a decent Les Paul clone from Rondo can be had around $300 IIRC? Not the super-cheap Les Pauls they sell, the midline ones.

The new Squier VMs. Mine have taken over for MIMs, CP's, and even CIJ's. GET FOUR.

If you were willing to spend a bit more, you could look for a peavey t-60.
I've seen them go for $350ish with a hardshell.
Maybe look for a roughed up one without a case?

I have to the say everyone is right about the squier tv telecaster though.
Pretty fantastic.

if your lookin SG route(im sure they make other styles)
im very happy with my samick greg bennet tr-2
you can get em under 2 hundy all day long
i think i might have overpaid at $175
but the quality far surpasses epiphones at the same price
and a hunder dollah teisco/kay/s-tone is buttloads of fun

I dug the T60 I had, would have probably swapped out the pickups as they weren't quite my cup of tea, but that was the heaviest most solid guitar I've ever played
