Heeeeeeeeey friends.

Welp, after over a decade of use, my RAT has finally broke. It's an original blackface small box, made in like '85 or so. Anyway, the part that's broke is the footswitch. It just kinda goes in now and doesn't turn on the pedal... like instead of a hard click switch it just feels like a momentary switch now. I haven't opened it up because I wouldn't know what to do.

What do you recommend? I'm sure somebody on the board could fix it if I can't... I wonder if I looked at the switch if maybe I just need to screw something back into place.

THANK YOU!

Tired old switch eh? It's as easy as popping it open and replacing the DPDT switch with a fresh new one! I believe it's only a few wires on the switch as well that are used, but you could even make it true bypass if that's your style now-a-days. That requires a 3DPT, however

I'm pretty sure the damn thing is some sort of true bypass anyway. Maybe I'll just talk to Bukowski and have him fix it up. He's the dude.

The RATs were true bypass originally but didn't use an LED so all you need is a DPDT

I'm throwing a fresh Carling in there for CBA. Should be fun!

IT'S THE RATPOCALYPSE!

mine's starting to go too...

So what did we learn today children? Rat footswitches are good for 25 years of normal use.

Motherfucker!

My Maxon AD-9 Pro just broke and the warranty expired conveniently 2 months ago. What the hell is going on why is everything breaking?

For serious!

My amazing band, THE BOYS THEMSELVES, has been work on our record for the last few months. We got the drums done in a week, the bass done in two days, and when it's my turn to record guitars:

1. My amp breaks
2. My guitar breaks

I get both of those back after a month and

3. My RAT breaks

Maybe I should just stop before I break something serious.

Like my ass.

I'll have to do a little more research on that, but I agree... pretty neat. The Germanium touch doesn't hurt... but I'd like more of a Ge Fuzz Face sound than a Ge Rat sound.

Have you played one?
