Considering that today is our national holiday, here is a brief (at least I tried to make it that way) listing of my favorite chilean bands. I didn't want to fill this up with YouTube windows because I've had a few bad experiences with that (webpages going reeeeally slow) so there are several links to MySpace as well. I hope you like it. ¡¡Viva Chile, mierda!!

Awesome.

Happy Chilean Independence.

I'm gonna listen to some (if not all) of these. Thanks.

By the way, for some strange reason we do not celebrate our independence but our first government meeting or "junta" (September 18, 1810), which was the first step to our actual independence (February 12, 1818) from Spain, but thanks anyway.

Ah, sorry. Well, happy junta.

I'm only part way through the list, but so far I really like Hielo Negro, Jada and Aguaturbia a lot.

Wot, no Inti-Illimani?

I had a Spanish teacher from Chile who made us listen to them.

oh, do you mean INTI LLIMAIDEN???

Well, I must admit I'm more oriented toward the "rocker" side of the force and I know more songs from Illapu (another classic folk group) than from Inti Illimani for that matter, plus there's a mess right now with Inti Illimani in terms of lineups (there's Inti Illimani and Inti Illimani Histórico). Talking about Illapu, here you have two of Illapu's more famous songs:

EDIT: sorry, I made a mistake a while ago and pressed the submit button instead of the preview.
