sooo upfront, i am an idiot when it comes to drumkit knowledge n all. i am not a drummer so apologies if this sounds stupid-o
but i recently got a nord drum, which is a 4 channel drum synth. am planning on crafing/designing/sampling some more of my own drum sounds from this thing
then i started thinking it might be cool to cobble together a small 4 piece electronic drum kit w/ some pads n stuff.
i kinda want something like in this pic (sorry its kind of a weird angle, only one i could find)

its from this video (some better shots, he switches to the electronic kit like halfway through)

but he has like two stands, one w/ two triggers on it, and the other w/ one. and a kick drum trig.
i really want the same simplicity of this setup. two stands, one w/ two pads, the other w/ the nord drum and one pad hanging off, and a kick drum trigger.
having trouble figuring out what kind of stands those are? and it seems like he has an attachment/clamp to hang that 2nd pad off of it?
are they just regular cymbal stands? not really concerned about the brand, just what are they??
WHAT IS THIS SHIT I AM CONFUSED

Easy there... Just look at Sweetwater or something, there are a ton of Electric Kit Options... A lot of the stuff can clamp on standard drum hardware but you'd have to have that stuff first... Since you got jack start off with the Electric kit stuff... Go play some at Guitard Center or wherever to get a feel for them, I would look into getting at least ONE of the Roland pieces that look like real drums; probably for the snare... The other pads like pictured are ok for toms or hits or whatever but you'll want one of the real style ones to really make it worthwhile and fun... Roland has a new basic kit called HD-3 that you can look at for ideas and also the TD-11K which is a step up but has good basics for $1000... There is a stand made by Roland that starts at $219... The kick goes from $119 - $1000 and the cymbals are between $400 - 800... That Nord looks awesome so just start buying a little at a time and you'll have a kit for the New Year...

word sonny. calmed down now

i've already browsed all the gear websites. dont like those giant rack systems they have (which seems like thats all they really have)
not trying to spend a fortune on this, and space is limited in my apt so i'm looking for small and cheap.
i think what i need are cymbal stands (they look very similar), but yea you are right, i need to just go to GC or something and see whats good there.
i'm planning on taking it slow and putting it together one by one. so yes hopefully new year will be the year of the electronic kit!
thanks dude!

edit: ahhh okay, checking out the actual roland site now, they have lots of stuff that i wasn't seeing on SW, ZZounds, MF< etc.
makes moar sense to me now....def cymbal stands w/ attachments

Simmons and Linn were the DRUMS of the 80's...
I think you can find stuff if you look... My CL and Pawn Shops ALWAYS have Electric kit stuff around... I got a SPD-S to use with my Machine Drum and still have never gotten the stand cause I just play it on the floor like a Hippie... I wanna get some on the triggers for it though cause I've seen people use it as a pretty decent kit with Kick and Hi-Hat triggers...
YAY ELECTRONIC DRUMS...

man i watched a video last night of roger linn demoing the adrenalinn.....i was like..... this is the same dude that is responsible for some of the most influential beat/drum machines/samplers of the modern-ish era? (no disrepect at all, dude is a legend, he was just sooo mild mannered and dorky it threw me for a loop at first) i know he didnt intend for the mpc to be used by the large professor's and diamond d's, etc etc of the world, but i kind of chuckled while watching.
am actually kind of excited about this electric drum kit thing. i've wanted to learn drums for a while now, (not really to play the drums persay, but i want to get that four limb syncronized motion shit going (i can do two arms pretty good, but once i try to throw the legs in, it all goes out the window), I think it will help me w/ my two armed octopus game) but the loudness and monstrosity that is a drum kit (even a small one) was always prohibitive.

You can make a great startup electronic drum kit by rewiring the piezos in a guitar hero drum kit to output jacks and just connecting the leads from your drum synth into it. I picked one up for free from the side of the road all you need are jacks and the ability to solder a couple wires together. It's decent like registers velocity and everything, might be worth a look to save the cash
