I'm done with all these fancy delay pedals with presets and 35 knobs. I just want A SIMPLE LITTLE DELAY PEDAL, OKAY? I want to have two simple delays in my chain for texture and also normal delay stuff. You know - set one and leave it forever just hinging on self oscillation but creating a pretty blanket of sounds, and play around with the settings on another one a little more frequently for more traditional delay stuff. ANYWAY, I'm looking at that AD9 in the b/s/t forums, cause I've heard good things about those, and played a few. I like them and they're simple... I can get down with the purple too. The AD9 pairs really well with reverb before it. It's how I've been running it, and although it sounds like an unusual chain order, makes it sound even more lush. The AD9's repeats are great, and I fooled around enough with the trim pots on the inside so that the feedback is completely maxed. It doesn't go into complete runaway oscillation, but just on the cusp of it which I find more useful. I also increased the delay time to compare with a DMM.

You also might look into pairing it with a simple Digital Delay like a DOD DFX9 or Electro Harmonix Digital Delay. You can make your repeats go on nearly forever with a digital delay after it, or put the digital delay before and and have the long repeats cascade into the dark analog delay. Win win either way!

dev's been trying to sell his Tokai TDL-1 for like ever. You should ask him if it can self oscillate.

I've got a vintage AD-80. Sounds great, but if I remember correctly it doesn't really self oscillate.

that's good to hear - i like putting reverb at front of my chain. as far as digital vs analog delays go, i feel way more drawn to just getting something analog, not just because it's warmer, it's just more romantic to me... i've got ways to sustain sounds, i really just want the best, simple sounds to start with.

I can't see that TGP link. What's the price on that and what is it?

Also Officer's has a delay divide switch if I'm not mistaken. I think it just makes the delay clock fall on certain divisions I think

The DMM is a good price. I just found them to be large. I think the 3 knob DMM's had a shorter delay time as well

For self-oscillation and simple analog at a lower price, just get a carbon copy.

Officer had a VERY similar 3 knobber, it didn't have the super delay length that my 5 knobber did, but i know DMM's oscillate well

i kind of like that they're large... but i could also get sick of that seeing as i've never had a big box ehx ped before.

From my experience with the DMM, I couldn't get over the "level" knob acting as a preamp for the rest of the signal to go through even when the pedal was off. I know that the 3 knobbers don't have that control, but I'm still wondering what the bypass is like

That doesn't sound cool... I think the only reason for my interest in that one is because of the price.. I've never seen those that low before. The pedal is beat to hell, though.

is the chorus on that version an "always on" type thing?
