I was thinking about getting one of these but I am torn between it and the monarch ( I mean I really should have both but $). Anyone have a word either way

IMO I think the Monarch is for heavier stuff and the Whit Light is for lighter stuff. It depends on what you like to play.

I have both currently and they are incredibly different. The Monarch is chewy and smooth with more amp-like response. The White Light is not really amp-like, but that's not a bad thing. It has much more edge to it than the monarch, which I think is due to the way it clips the signal (square-wave I think?). It can get a good amount of gain going as well, I wouldn't say it is just for lighter stuff. The compression switch is a handy feature as well.

I'll see if I can whip a clip tonight, but I might not have time until the weekend.

This pedal is on about 90% of the time I play. I keep it in the less compressed setting with both knobs around 1oclock, using single coils. Everything just comes out sounding more exciting and awesomer. Can get as thin or as thick as you'd like with the weight knob.

Finally, a demo by him that actually makes me want to buy a pedal. It's amazing how every demo of his makes me just not care at all. It's uninspiring and thin. Maybe the new Royer mic he keeps yabbing on about has helped liven up his tone with some balls. Also, that pedal never really sounded that good to me before, but now I'm really intrigued. I probably wouldn't buy one, just because I don't have the money these days, but it's certainly a cool idea and a unique tone.

I think if all of there overdrives, this one stands out the most to me. I just bought the best sounding strat I've ever played and it's really inspired me to start searching for a good OD pedal. This one sounds sounds the most expressive. Plus, I want something that plays well with delay. I feel like this'll do it like a boss
