The dude in No Statik does, sounds fucking amazing.

I've been meaning to try it, but I've been to lazy to pick up my bass.

Yes, it's awesome. Beware though, it's really misnamed and doesn't really sound like a "Heavy Metal" distortion, it's more of a grindy fuzz.

Also, Justin Meldal-Johnson uses one as well. He's done studio work for an insane amount of artists, and he's Beck's bassist and he toured with NIN for a while.

It does bring on the intense feedback but it kind of sounds like a big pile of bassy doooooodie in the greatest kind of way.

I don't like it on its own, but with the low knob maxed, the gain almost off, and with another fuzz run into it...then it's pretty cool. When really pushed it sounds kinda like an octave pedal trying to track. I also use it after a feedback loop as a volume/EQ.

Yeah I agree by itself I dislike it but in conjunction with another fuzz it can be aight. My bass player in the sludge band would use it and every practice I would joke about ripping open the pedal and taking a hammer to it because it was tooo much of a muddled low end mess for what we were doing.

And a couple of film scores as well.

I tried one, It's not bad, almost bought it although I kind of have that ground covered already.
besides how would it look to have one on a "cork sniffer" board.

I've used an HM-2 with an ODB-3 next in line and it was obnoxiously awesome.

Ive got two of them, kind of want to pick up a bass (because I can't find a band as a guitarist) and just play through one.

Would be awesome.

I've noticed that the MIJ ones have WAYYY more low-end than the MIT ones, but the MIT ones have a more crusty, nasty mid range bite.

Yeah from the demos I've watched, I only like how it sounds with the gain all the way down. Although, it may just be how people demo stuff. I hate those bay-area/thrash/death/scooped mids riffs.

I can only imagine that was disgusting.

I've noticed that, I have one of each. My Jap is slightly quieter and has a tiny bit less gain compared to the Tai, but the Atari sounds horrid with the HIs higher.

I use to do it a lot before, it is awesome and crushing! Take some time to fiddle the eq and you´ll prolly find some cool sounds.

Fo' realz? Looks like I'll have to try and get my hands on an MIT HM2 just for shits and giggles...

Urg.
