I'm really loving the tones I've heard from youtube demos but I was wondering how it works in a band mix? Has anyone used this live as their main fuzz? Thanks.

My band mate has had his absynth on his board for a long time now...it works great live.

Sorry, I got mine after I quit my band 2 - 3 years ago.
Never tried it in a band situation.

But I would think it would cut nicely... it's not too bassy or muffy and I find it not too compressed.

If you're talking about the self-oscillating stuff, just make sure you've got the level up. :thumb:

Also, you can't really guarantee you're gonna get a tone like you got last time with the self-oscillation. So I just kinda treat it like the live loopers treat their loops - something unique to the performance to build the piece around, and just accept little mistakes and wrong noises as part of the act. (Edit: I haven't tried putting the oscillation stuff into a live loop, but that might be really cool -- build up a cool chord prog + riff with the fuzz side of the AB-Synth, play those loops, and then layer on top crazy self-oscillation noises. Should be awesome.)

Seriously though, having it live is really cool -- go nuts. Make sure you're using the self-oscillation in a way that first confuses the crowd them clues them in to the fact that you're controlling it. If that's part of your act, I mean.

(Edit edit: and to answer your last question, I used my Algal Bloom as my main fuzz, which is similar but not the exact same. Could've probably gotten away with just using the fuzz side of the AB-Synth alone in a pinch.)
