I have a reissue twin with the 15in speaker. I don't like the stock speaker so tell me what I should replace it with.

Thanks!

That amp is 85w right?
I would suggest the Weber Chicago but it's only 80w.

The Eminence Legend 1518 is a really nice all around speaker and it's pretty cheap too!

I hear people like the Legend. I'd be interested in the Emi Commonwealth, too, for new production. Or look for ann old JBL, which even after recone could be cheaper than the Coomonwealth that is trying to cop its vibe.

I just got a Big Ben in the mail today but can't test it yet. Unfinished cab should be delivered tomorrow. Should have it finished in a few days, so I'll report back.

15 inch speaker virgin here. The Big Ben looks so huge and it's got some weight to it. I think it will sound huge and I think fuzz will love it. Can't wait...

Yea I've really been looking at one of the 3 eminences...just more curious about the difference between the three. LaoWiz let me know what you think of the big ben.

I'd cruise until I got an old JBL 130 or equivalent.

They're my favorite with old Fender stuff if I want 15".

It's been 110 degrees F at the practice space for the last month so not yet.
I have a 215 with the Eminence Legend 1518's and another 215 with Weber Michigans.
I'm going to plug it into those first to get a better idea of what I should use for the Excelsior.

bronzetalon: Are you looking for something bright or something darker?

I'm trying to make up my mind over the weber michigans or a peavey black widow...with all the brightness available on the amp low end is much more important to me because thats something I don't want flubbing out much when im running my octaving effects.

I've never tried the Black Widows but the Michigans would be pretty good for what you are looking for.
The Michigan doesn't have a lot of mids if that matters to you. They sound pretty similar to the Celestion G12T-75
which is the speaker they use in Marshall 1960 cabs.

Cool! I hope you dig it.
If it doesn't work out, I may be interested in taking it off your hands.
