All you "piece of wood" pedalboard users - BAGS/CASES?

Post by stripes »

i currently am among the many who slap their pedals on a piece of wood and take 5 hours to set up at shows. i use an old suitcase to carry my board around, but my setup now is calling for a bigger board, and this weekend i'm going ... WOOD SHOPPING :!!!: BUT.. the new wood that i'll be carrying won't fit in a suitcase. so i'm looking for ideas for a new case/transportation method. what do yall use?

You could make a pretty simple lid for the board, and attach latches, so you can just unhinge and play!

i'd like to have something pretty sturdy and durable... maybe wood lid thingy with metal corners? i just wonder if those latches that you buy in two pieces will be able to fit (the bottom one that would attach to the board) onto the wood that would be pretty thin.

You could always put a small lip on the edge of the board you have/make, so that the bottom latch has more wood to be attached to. And metal corners would make it tough as hell!

Ask the "Wood Dude" where the scraps are and go from there...

You get 4 free cuts when you buy something so measure well and have them do it...

The right Stain or Paint can even turn Street Wood into Sweet Wood...

Check out all the shizzz in the drawer and cabinet sections for some cool board bling...

I used this guy:

http://www.roadcasesusa.com/1-4-effect- ... tock-sale/

Built my board to fit inside there with just enough room on the side for an expression pedal. I added velcro to the floor of the flight case and to the feet of the pedal board to keep it in place....but also let me pick it up for easy access to the wires underneath.

Gator makes a few pedal board cases as replacements for Pedal Train Cases, so if your board is similar to a Pedaltrain size board, one of those could work.
