trade your '68 silverface Bassman (blackface specs) for a early 70's silverface Deluxe Reverb?

I've always held a little fanboy status to Twin Reverbs but that's just me. Never actually played one to know if I'd even like it. I just know they're loud, somewhat reasonably sized, and lush

I don't think so. So, no, but it sorta depends on how loud an amp I needed at the time. In general though, I'd rather've the Bassman.

talking head vs. combo, right? the Deluxe is worth more and is more portable, certainly. which do you think sounds better? how much headroom do you need? these are the questions.

I likely would. But I don't need the headroom and don't gig. BTW, it's not just output power -- the Deluxe has a bit less headroom in the preamp than most Fenders of the same era.

If it's straight up, the reverb seems to be going for more, so you could make that choice as purely financial speculation. Other than that, I hear the circuits are pretty similar, with differences mostly in volume and headroom. So from a completely external view? It seems like a solid trade. Which would make me slightly dubious. about $500 versus about $1,000. Looks good, but caveat emptor.

Feel better.
