Nope. Actually the only reason I could think of (looking for a more traditional looper) is one of the features your most interested in. Despite only having five knobs the Strymon stuff is extremely tweakable, so don't worry about it sounding too hi-fi. You can adjust it with one of the secondary functions. I think it's the bias parameter.
Strymon really hit it out of the park with this one. I've never played a tape emulator that so accurately reproduces the randomness and unpredictability without having the unreliability of using an old tape machine. I love the pedal so much that decided to keep it even after buying a Timeline.

I owned both the Skreddy Echo and the El Cap at one point, and next to each other, the Echo sounded just that little bit more natural and washed a little better, so I kept that. But I think the El Cap more than makes up for that with all the extra features (stereo, looping, parameters, tap tempo, favourite switch etc.) so no, no reasons not to.

I liked mine when I was using my 6L6 head that didn't have reverb. It sounded heavenly.
But after I A/B'd to my DMM there was no comparison. Even despite the extra bells and whistles

the El Cap has a cool feature set, but as skullservant said, I just never liked the sound of the repeats very much. to each their own...

I agree. I couldn't dig it. When it started washing heavily it just became a muddy mess.

I though I'd love that.

So for one person it's too clean and another it's too washed out and some can't use the looper and there are too many features???
Sometimes I never understand ILF...

Heh I'm not complaining hard. If I still used my other head there would be no doubt about it, the El Cap would be on my board
