Yellow was pretty goddamned...tolerable.
Green however was pretty goddamned...embarrassing.

hmmm Take My Bones away is stuck in my head, and I like the last three tracks on Yellow. Green has a few very scattered moments that are cool, and the tones are great, but overall the whole thing just sounds like after taking a year off they lost the ability to edit themselves. Could have been one decent album. I thought Red was wildly inconsistent actually, but Blue was tight all the way through.

Also the whole thing gave me horrible flashbacks to Cave In's pop turn.

I just got it, need to give it a listen this week.

Picking it up today. Was wondering about the impact of the two-disc separation as it is. Maybe it would be a better experience on shuffle?

Never really got into Baroness, but this new stuff seems like a departure from their previous releases. Maybe they just wanted to do something new, or something that may be harder for them seems to happen pretty often

I've only heard the 2 songs they initially posted as singles or whatever. Shit is whack. Sounds like Nickelback's singer joined the band. Not surprised really, as Blue hasn't aged well with me. I love Red and the 2 early EPs are OK.

This is crap though.

I don't know - I'm not having these extreme reactions to it. All of their stuff has proved to be "growers" for me in the past. The lyrics on this one are definitely less abstract, and the vocal melodies are more pronounced, both of which can be polarizing choices. But this is far from Nickleback, people. Not every song is a winner, but I'm not throwing this baby out with the bathwater on this one. It's definitely a departure, but I can still hear all of the elements that I identify as being "Baroness" here.

It sounds more like Coheed and Cambria than a Baroness record.

I mean, I don't mind, but I was listening thinking,"People aren't gonna like this."

Yeah, I think they thought the same thing, too. There have been a bunch of interviews in which they've said "If people are expecting our next big metal record, this isn't it."

I've been mulling it over, and have a whole bunch of thoughts around it... gonna have to find the time to write 'em down coherently.
