Orange Rockerverb 100 MKI - pedal friendly?

reliable? is it going to break down all the time?

I don't own one but I've been GASing for one forever so I've done some research. The clean channel apparently likes pedals alot, takes dirt well and has decent headroom. the main complaint is the lack of a mids knob. The dirty channel unfortunately isnt too keen on being boosted by anything other then a light overdrive or clean boost. As far as modulation and time based effects, they sound best if utilized in the effects loop so you can use the channel switching with out disrupting the effects chain order. As far as reliability I havent read of any melt downs or crazy shit happening to them except for people who used and abused them without maintanence .

Haven't tried a Rockerverb but I have a Thunderverb 200... It likes pedals as long as you don't have the gain up real high.. unless you are after "that type of sound" which is fun too.. the reverb in it though is one of the best I have ever heard so.. if they have the same tank then

Looks promising. I'm not a big fan of split channel amps, and I don't like the dirty channel's master volume, but I dig bandaxall EQ's as well as the ability to run it at 35 watts for Teh Dirtz.

Also, EL34's sound lovely.

The hard part hasn't been assembling it. I've got the tube sockets in the chassis, I have the heater wires wired into the sockets, I have the turret board with all the parts lined up. It's not been terribly difficult. I have a plan for creating a jig for all the controls, dropping them into the jig and then wiring them up as a complete controls-harness that after being pre-wired just drops into the chassis. The difficulty comes in two parts: 1.) being the father of a now-2-year-old and finding the time (and space!) to actually work on it, and 2.) having the tools and and skills to be able to troubleshoot where things go wrong.

There's another thing about this weber kit itself that I don't like: a single bias control for all 4 power tubes. First, because there's a really lousy pot that comes in the kit, and second because it's one bias control for 4 tubes that may individually have different bias points. Once I get my first one finished up, I'm going to have to look into both changing it to a 4-bias pot system as well as putting a meter, an on-and-off switch, and 4-way switch on the back to allow for engaging the meter, setting the bias on the first tube, switching the meter to the next, and then setting the bias for that one, and so on until all tubes are set.

There's other plans, but then again, that's why I'm getting another kit. I'm going to have to go outside Weber to get a larger chassis that will have the room to accommodate more mods (like an additional preamp tube for the BROOTAL GAINZ) but nick here at I<3Fuzz has posted a youtube vid about his 6O100:
