Anyone have one? I'm not so sure I get it. Yeah it's a longer scale, but is it that much different than normal guitar? Why should I get one? Feel free to show off by the way :thumb:

you should get one because of the tight attack whilst being tuned low

no downtuned guitar will ever sound like a bari IMHO

ah, the allure of low frequencies. when i venture into this realm i'm going to make sure to try some >6 string, fanned fret guitars. rondo had some sweet 7-string flat black fanned guitars listed for a while. i'm no boutique guitar guy, so: mmmmm

The opposite is also true. Be sure to try before you buy.

Picked up the Gibson LP baritone last year, looks like this;

Why you should get one? Best way to go if you want the lower tunings. I also found it perfect after playing bass for a while. It made the non-baritone guitars feel like ukeleles and the baritone like a regular guitar.

I guess the thing you gotta decide is whether you want a baritone guitar or a bass vi type one. The difference is around two inches usually (that's what she said).

I've gone from something more set up like a bass vi to a baritone. It's still a bit weird trying to play a guitar with heavier strings and a slightly longer neck than usual when like, playing fast grind stuff, but the sound is just MASSIVE, like ridiculous. This is mine:

(yes I'm just posting in this thread to show that thing off again)

Yeah? I'm pretty curious about those. How are the pickups?

Unless you're using distortion.
The advantage of a long scale baritone is the feel, the reliability in the tuning.

The advantage of tuning down a standard scale guitar is that you probably already have one, and if it's not a piece of shit, it'll work quite well.

they've always sounded more "tight" to me, because of the tension :idk: and twangy... even with distortion

they're not bad - like the humbucker, not really sold on the singles but I prob won't change them. Still gets that tele twang if you want it.

Some of the MIM fenders are hit and miss but this one plays well and has no obvious issues.
