Mixer to have for me please advice to?

ZOOP.
so, tried using the Motu 8Pre we use to record at practice as a mixer so i could have kinda separate tracks of live jams/ideas/recordings without switching hella cables around. sounded like 6 shades of butt. ALL of then diarhetic. sooooooooo.... fuck that.
what i want to do now instead is have a mixer with at least 8 inputs that also has separate outs for each of those 8. a minimal effects section would be cool too, the singer likes a bit of reverb on her voices. i had a Behringer 16 channel or so when i was a youngin'. it was a'ight. i'd REALLY like to go CL or trade shtuff first over buying a new 'un, so something that has a tad more reliabiliy than a Behringer might be keen. although, mixers are the only things i've ever had of theirs that didna break.
what price range should i look for? which brands gots the hawt fire goodness?
TEACH ME YOU DIRTY BUNGERS.

We were just talkin bout this in the hood... To get that all into the comp at once with results you wanna live with is gonna be at least $1500... You can do separate mixer and interface or all in one but be prepared to spend... If you're doing stuff to show and are serious it's really worth it to spend on these two / one pieces...

ah! but i HAVE the interface i want! i like the Motu Pre8, it has 8 mic/quarte inch innies. i want a mixer that has a main out so i can run vox, keys, drum machine into it and have separate volume of each going to the power amp that goes to the PA, but the. also have separate channel outputs to run into the Pre8, so i can easily record everything to separate tracks.
THAT suh, is what iiiiiiii WANT.

Yes an ol Mackie 1604 will do awesome... You need to look for a mixer with "direct" outs or an 8 bus mixer... The Mackies are easier to find and mo cheapa...

i agree with sonidero on this front about the mackie jam.
it's tough because without decent preamps, EQs, compressors, etc. direct inputs to your interface (even if it has ok preamps) will usually sound not awesome and will certainly require some work to get it up to snuff... maybe just work those tracks a little more in the box? idk

I just looked over what you need..... you'd have to check out the larger mackie's. They have all the bells and whistles you want, with separate outs for each channel.

well.... this thread lost it's relevance in like 2 hours.
thank you for all the TASTY options, but i just stopped in the local GC and amidst all the newer USB outs (don't even get me STARTED on how asinine it is to have an 8 input mixer that just has a main stereo out.... over usb.... GUH.), they had the same fucking old school TANK of a Behringer MX2642a beast i used to own. it came in 3 days ago, so i have to wait till August 2nd to pick it up, but it's only $150.
i know sound quality-wise this way isn't ideal, but it will still be plenty decent enough quality for what we're using practice stuff for (record jams so we don't lose ideas, capture runthroughs to see what works/doesna) and totally solves the problem i had. for CHEAP.
thanks all! now to source some cheap rack ears for the bugger. probably end costing at leas half the damn mixer.
thanks!

lol. i know. i'm so TORN. i fucking HATE Behringer stuff, but it IS way cheap and a mixer that i had for an OCD Pedophile Stalker's Attention Span's worth when i was a kicken. so i'm super comfy with it.
DAMN YOU CONVENIENTLY INEXPENSIVE SOLUTION HAVING GUITAR CENTER. DAMMMMMMNNNNNNNN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!
